So the "talk" seems to be that Turner + McDermott is on the table but Danny wants Oladipo or Warren over McDermott.  That all seems pretty reasonable to me.  To get Oladipo, we probably need to add something just the make the salaries work and I think overall Oladipo+Turner > Hayward.  Anybody willing to throw in Langford to make this happen?  I would.

To get Warren, we would have to add something like Smart to balance the value and make it a fair trade.  Not sure anyone would want to go there.

I doubt Celtics will add anything else important.    Semi and Edwards as cap filler.

No way they add Smart.

I still think what the Celtics really want is Hayward back.

Yeah, maybe resigning is better than walking for nothing but I get the feeling that they want to trade him (or now sign and trade).  I am not sure that is still an option though.  So is it that we can take Turner + ?? in a trade vs. resign him?  I guess from Hayward's perspective, assuming no S&T is done, it is either sign with the Knicks or sign with the Celtics (if in fact that is something the Celtics are willing to do).  I guess if it came down to signing him or losing him for nothing, you have to sign him, even if the plan is to trade him later.

I think and actually hope you are right on this speculation.   Wonder if adding Timelord or Grant plus Langford would allow C's keep Smart in the deal for Warren.  I'd hate to lose Smart.

So if your offers are accurate, I think I like Hayward and Romeo for Turner and Oladipo.   I have some hope Victor in a 25 MPG role adds some considerable value.  Healthy and rotation-productive for a year on that strange/serious injury would be very encouraging I think -- also would add to his trade value (given what we've gotten from Hayward, VO replaces GH).

Speaking of Semi, today is the day his 1.7 Mil becomes Guaranteed. We keep hearing that Danny is holding out for Turner + Oladipo or Warren, I don't think he wants Turner, but wants Oladipo and Warren instead, Danny probally doesn't want to carry Turner's salary for 3 more years, and he really isn't much of an upgrade over Daniel IMO.

I’m surprised by how this has played out.  Why did Gordo opt out without something firmly on the table?

I thought this would be a done deal by now.

The dude wrote two Players' Tribune articles - one for Utah, one for Boston - and only after that fact made a decision about where he was going to sign.

This lines up with his indecisive nature lol.

Agreed, and the longer it takes the less options the Celtics have in free agency.

My guess is that he expected Ainge and Pritchard to be able to come to an agreement but they are having trouble doing so.

Now, I don’t think he makes a decision until New York and Atlanta spend their available cap space. I hope one way or another it’s solved today so we can add a rotation guy at the mle.

Maybe I am thinking of both in their better years and while we may need Turner more ~ the idea of a Kemba and Oladipo backcourt sure sounds like fun.

Here is my attempt at what a fair Indy return might look like.

https://tradenba.com/trades/Ozr5JxWAP

Celtics In
Myles Turner
Will Barton

Pacers In
Gordon Hayward Resigned to 4 Years 100 Million

Denver In
Daniel Theis
Jeremy Lamb
2021 Utah 2nd Round Pick via Indy

I've always been high on Barton and at least think he is the caliber of player we should be looking for as the 2nd guy in the Hayward trade. Certainly a better return than McDermott.

Indy get's their man and the Haywards get to settle down. In this case they still keep Oladipo and Warren.

Theis would be an excellent replacement for Plumlee in Denver. Losing Theis hurts by I would look to sign Harry Giles as his cheap replacement. Give Tatum his buddy.

What do you think?

Sounds like only a matter of times before he gets traded to Indy

It will probably be a Hayward trade to the Pacers for Myles Turner and Jeremy Lamb. I don't think Indianapolis will give up T J Warren.

This is lazy news looking for clicks.

It’s the off season and he’s from Indiana. His family just added a baby and his wife is living in the mansion that he just bought there. Of course he’s in Indiana.

That’s not “breaking all personal ties to Boston.” That’s spending time with your wife and family in the off season, which is only going to last a few weeks this year.

I was sure last night that I'd wake up with news of a trade. I don't buy all this talk about Hayward's indecisiveness, he moved his whole family back to Indiana and enrolled his kids in school their back in March, he knows exactly what he wants. It has to be Ainge not happy with what the Pacers are offering thus far.

That all happened 4 months ago.  Is Washburn really reporting on where families are living and kids enrolled?

It is significant news, in that he moved his family there and enrolled his kids in school during the pandemic lockdowns. He had his mind made up a while ago.
