Hayward has given Danny two more days to make win now moves or he is gone.

I think the writing is on the wall that he wants to leave, but there's a benefit to him and his agent working with Danny to get him to a new team that may not have the cap to sign him.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Seems to be the most likely possibility.

Indy is the clear choice here, but I wonder if there's other teams in play, too. Perhaps Dallas?

sadly, it does seem like the most likely explanation for the delay.  was hoping they'd be able to keep him under a revised agreement.  4 all star players would keep us in contention for several years.

if he does get traded to Indy, have to imagine Danny's looking at adding a big (Turner) and figuring on moving Kanter & Poirier to free up roster spots for players that can contribute more to the team

People need to stop trying to trade for harden without including brown.  Just sounds dumb.

Chris Haynes - yahoosports.....

"Hawks in play to get Gordon Hayward"

"The Atlanta Hawks are in play in an attempt to acquire Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

A sign-and-trade deal is a possible route, but Atlanta is equipped with the most cap space in the league at around $44 million and can simply sign Hayward to a hefty multi-year deal if he decided to decline his option.

Atlanta is seeking an alternative playmaker to incorporate alongside young star Trae Young. The Hawks will also be in contention for veteran point guard Rajon Rondo, who is declining his $2.7 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers to become an unrestricted free agent, sources said."

I thought this was "new."

Makes sense in a general way...could be the usual yak though.

Makes zero sense if fans are expecting anything in return.  Atl can sign Hayward for free.

what if there are multiple places hayward is willing to go?   does that entice the hawks to give up anything?   like give us a good piece or we'll deal him to golden state and hayward is cool with that.   my logic is probably wrong.

Welp, if he does go then I hope when the Celtics fans get to return to seeing games in their arena we boo him hard on his visiting games.

But how?

Hawks do not have salary matching capability unless it includes Capela, Dedmon...

Are the Hawks not way under the cap? Can’t they just take in more than they send back?

They have a ton of cap space. If they absorbed Hayward's salary, it would return a 30 million dollar trade exception to the Cs, allowing them to trade for another player without that player's salary counting against their cap this season (Steven Adams?). On top of that, it would move us far enough away from the luxury tax to give us the full MLE and pursue a better rotation player.

I don't think we want to take a bunch of salary back unless it is a good rotation player.

Here's an idea

Hayward to the Hawks for a TPE

Then

#26 + #30 to the Rockets for Tucker and Gordon
