He wants to leave but won’t terminate his contract.  So, he wants to have his cake and eat it too.

I think his desire for more PT is understandable, I don't hold that against him. I don't think many players would be happy sitting on the bench. If you did have a player who was happy as a bench cheerleader and had no greater aspirations you would question the need for him at all. But end of day it's not his decision.

I'm sure the C's would be happy to release him if he didn't want paid or frankly trade him if it didn't cost them anything to do so.  Like if the Knicks want to absorb him into cap space for a highly protected future 2nd round pick that will never transfer, then sure.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I’d feel better about him whining to the media if he had even paid lip service to the idea of working on his game and getting better.

Oh I agree with you there. I think he's reached his ceiling though, but his $2.6m salary might prove useful as filler for a trade. I can't see him being with the Celtics for another year. In that sense his desires probably align with Ainge's  :police:

Maybe we can include him in a draft day trade? He’s a garbage-time player. At best he will become a serviceable role player. I’d trade him for a future 2nd and not think twice.

He is a terrible basketball player.

But to be fair, these translations might not come off in the right tone.

Who?

But seriously, I was hoping he'd be better than he was.

Maybe if he went out and developed anything remotely resembling NBA-quality skills he'd have a right to whinge.

As is, he's free to leave if he leaves his contract :)

How are we going to replace those 1.9 points and 2 rebounds per game? That's what I want to know.

Perhaps a horse that does horse things could be preferable?

Hezonja would be an equally fun and infuriating addition to the roster. I like it.
