Might be here a while, since Moranis said he's coming back at 11:15 to pick.
A little intermission half-way through the round ;D

I have a trade to announce. The Houston Rockets will be trading Kawhi Leonard, #35 and #115 for Jimmy Butler, #28 and #33.
Not getting this from Houston. Kawhi is the much better player and much better lead dog for one of these teams. Usually team getting the best player wins.
Yeah, you're dropping down a tier or even two tiers in trading Kawhi for Butler, so he really has to nail these picks for this to pay off.

Felt that I could build a really balanced team that's strong on both ends of the court with this trade. Feel that I can work around not having the offensive punch of Kawhi, there are some really good offensive players left in this draft.

I wonder which variant of Butler will be chosen. Obviously depends on the other guys picked, but Chicago Jimmy vs Miami Jimmy are worlds apart

the Spurs feel like their arena is getting a little too hot.
The Air Conditioners are broken and there is only one way to cool the building down.

by adding a little ICE.

With the 2(1) pick the Spurs select.

The "Iceman" Chuck Lidell George Gervin!!!!!
Gervin was on the top of my board for today.  Figured I had no shot at him though.

He is the guy I had in my top 10 instead of Jokic.

Ohh No! There is my Plan A gone!

Dang, I got this 2nd round all wrong. I thought Gervin would be there at the end. Actually all 5 players taken so far being available at the end of the 2nd round to mid 3rd round.

My expectations for how this round would go have been all wrong.

Love the Gervin pick, obviously!

Clyde and Gervin together would be awesome to watch.
I was hoping to do the same idea with Doc and Ice.

Yeah, that's the question. Last year he shot the 3pt shot abysmally at 24%, but the rest of his game might have been at his best.

With the 5th pick in the 2nd round, the Houston Rockets select a modern defensive giant who will be right at home banging away with centres from the decades past and stifling their shots:

Rudy Gobert

Saw this one coming ;D Knew you wouldn't let him slide past you
I just love his skillset for a defensive giant whose prime years are eligible: he can crash the offensive glass with the best of them save Moses and another crazy frontcourt player, is a smart screener and passer who doesn't try anything that he couldn't when he has the ball. I know that his offence isn't sexy, but great defensive players who accept their ideal offensive role with enthusiasm are actually pretty hard to find in this draft - a few other defensive stalwarts available thought too highly of themselves on that end of the court during his prime when their on-ball offence absolutely sucked for the roles they wanted to play in.

I was hoping to see a nash and gobert pairing.

Lethal pick and roll.

If Nash feel to 10 it was going to be my picks at 10 and 11.

Butler was gonna be my pick regardless of the Kawhi trade. I would have chosen the 2016-17 season. Butler was amazing that season.

Doc and Ice would have been a fun pairing. Surprised Marc and Klay went so high personally. But they are both very good players. same with Jimmy. I thought round 3-4 for all those guys.

I think his playmaking last season was definitely it's best, and he put in a great playoff run. However I think his defence was better in Chicago, as was his 3PT shooting. Depends if Somebody wants an offensive engine at the other guard spot

With its 2nd pick, the Toronto Raptors will select the only player to lead the league in points and assists (both totals and per game) in the same season, Tiny Archibald.

We will select that 73 season with 34 ppg and 11.4 apg when he also led the league with 46 mpg.  He finished 3rd in MVP voting that season
