No way are we trading Kemba. He just signed a max with us and plus, I think he’s a big reason the chemistry is so good.

But Simmons is definitely an intriguing talent.

How about instead of Kemba, we ship out Smart and Hayward to get Simmons. Philly likely says no but they might think about it if we absorb Horford’s terrible contract too (somehow. Idk how. Haven’t crunched any numbers)

Yeah, something along those lines is interesting.  Personally, I like Smart but the real factor is that I don't think we have the cap to keep both Walker and Simmons.  Hayward rolls off but if we have Kemba over Smart, that is like $20M more salary.  I would rather have Smart and the $20M.

That is why these trades are so complicated to pull off and we probably will not get close to Simmons.

Saw this on Twitter and thought, hmmm....

"Jared Weiss wrote that the Ainge could be interested in doing Hayward + Picks + Romeo for Oladipo and Turner."

Looks interesting, although believe Oladipo only has a year left on his contract.

Also, fair amount of "rumor" articles based around a similar thought process, Oladipo package for hayward package.  This could get interesting fast!

I just have issue seeing a good trade in terms of on the court impact for Hayward.

I also don't think the Celtics need a huge change to go farther next year.   The just need to upgrade role positions on the bench.

I’m good on anything the pacers have. Celtics need a high IQ offensive minded player who can control the offense. The Celtics run offense like its rec ball.

Turner isn’t better than Thesis and not much better than Rob so he’s not a step up. Now Sobinis I’m interested in! He actually resolved some real problems, Turner doesn’t solve any. He has stinkers OFTEN!

We would probably have to throw in the 14th pick for that to work. Don't think I'm doing that.  If we don't win it all with that new lineup, chances high that Oladipo walks.  And I don't place a high value on Turner, he seems to have regressed the past year.  Although he is a very hard worker.

We run the same risk of Hayward walking for nothing next year as well. So in theory Oladipo and Hayward are a wash in the trade in terms of risk.
With the above being said it's realistically the 14th and Langford for Tuner with the option of re-signing Oladipo.. You'd be insane not to do that deal, this upcoming draft is horrid and I don't see Langford materializing into much on our team.

I would be OK with this for the Celtics.  One year of coming off injury Oladipo for one year of Hayward (who will pretty much be coming off injury for the rest of his career) is probably a plus for the Celtics (depending on Oladipo's health) and provides the salary ballast to allow us to trade Romeo and Pick(s) for Turner.  I am OK with this for the Celtics and I guess I can see it for Indy if they don't see Turner in their immediate future (plus they save about $4M).

I still want to trade Walker for Simmons though so maybe there is a 3-way that can work.

I don't think Oladipo makes sense for this team right now and I don't see why this team (the 3rd youngest ECFinalist in league history) needs to make radical changes. Just tweaks.

Indy isn't letting Sabonis go anywhere. If they are as committed to him as I think they are, then maybe Turner can be had for a reasonable price. I don't know what that price is or what the deal would be, exactly (the Celtics still have a lot of picks and young players that might be attractive to a 3rd team), but getting Turner onto a team where he could play his actual position could be enlightening. And he definitely fills a void for the Celtics.

I posted this in another thread but I think this makes sense:

If Indiana was interested Smart (with salary filler) for Turner is a pretty fair trade and I think DA would have to think long and hard before saying no to that sort of offer.

I love Smart as a player and he is probably my favorite player on the roster due to his tenacity and effort.
