Idea: Trade with Indy

Hey all - I think we need to make a trade with Indy to get us over this hump.
Before the season began I suggested trading Jaylen for Sabonis and I think that is still a trade that works well for both teams. I'd hate to lose Jaylen but Sabonis fills our biggest hole. If we made this trade I'd also look to signing Hayward for 4 years at a more team friendly contract.

That said, the ideal scenario for me is trading Hayward for either Turner or Sabonis. I doubt the Pacers do it for Sabonis but I feel like they would consider it for Turner.

Obviously I'd think this needs to be a sign and trade with Hayward. He signs an extension for 4 years/80 mil or something and we trade him to Indy. Indy is home for the Haywards and I feel like he has a chance to re-establish himself there and really be the 'guy' on that team. He'd also be an immediate fan favorite since it is home.

Sabonis would be my target, and I was one of the few that would have traded Jaylen for him when I initially proposed the deal before the season started.. I still would do the deal today
That said I think Turner is a pretty big upgrade over Theiss, I also think he would do more for us then Hayward at this stage.

Jaylen for Sabonis is a non starter.  Jaylen is that much better.  You can't give up the greater value just to fill a weak spot on your roster.

Jaylen is better, I don't disagree. That said people on this forum severely undervalue Sabonis. The guy was an all star this year, and taking a slight hit at a position we have a log jam in for a significant improvement in a position of need justifies the trade to me.

But in turn what other choice would the Celts have?

Turner is a little taller/longer. And better shooter than Theis.   Theis runs better and a tad better setting picks/more active without the ball

Just because who Danny is, he probably doesn't blink an eye and takes Turner in return

In the long run Turner is a trade bait or a solid role player off the bench. Like a PJ Brown

Jaylen's been our most consistent player in playoff runs and he's on a very reasonable deal.  he's not being traded for less than all-NBA talent (which Jaylen can make an argument for being at that level currently). 

I like Sabonis but he's shown that he disappears in games frequently.  I liked Turner in the draft and his first couple of years but he's not showing any development. 

If I'm moving a core piece to fill holes (because I can't fill the holes via FA or trading smaller pieces/picks) then I'm looking to move Hayward, not Brown.

I wouldn’t be bragging about being one of the few to have previously wanted a JB for Sabonis deal as that take has aged badly. I get it, Sabonis was an all-star this year, and I would still happily trade for him, but it would have to be a deal around Hayward. Add whatever small pieces you want to get it done, but leave JB alone.

Paint presence defensively?  Because he’s definitely not an interior player on offense.

Turner will give you 1 extra block per 100 possessions, but Theis is even or superior just about everywhere else.

So would you move Hayward for Turner?

for Turner, no.  basically getting a more-athletic Theis, barely.  Sabonis, quite possibly.  need to determine if Sabonis' disappearing act in games is due to lack of effort/focus or if Indy just ignores him in those games.
