We had a weak bench and Herro - Robinson killed us...Iguadala was that veteran presence  that made a difference (remember 2008..?) ....it will be difficult for the Heat...LeBron will get the calls and the refs will make a difference...as for the Lakers tying us....there are a few huge variables...note:'

the Lakers won five titles in Minneapolis before the shot clock was introduced...then it all changed....going into this year's finals their record is 16-15 but only 11-15 in the "modern NBA"   .....sure, kudos for having the most finals appearances but then they usually pretty much dominated the Western conference...when it came to playing the East the became pretty much a .500 team...Boston, on the other hand, is 17-4 with an .809 pct...when we got there we were totally dominant...which brings me to the single most revealing point...the Lakers have lost 9 of the 12 meetings vs. Boston...our winning pct head to head is  .750 to .250.....overall...no contest..they are the two greatest franchises...but Boston is clearly #1...at least in my mind...I rest my case...

No need to single out Kemba; Tatum shot the same 3-for-10.  ;)

Seeing some of the ugly bricks was pretty frustrating, particularly because Brad was directing the team to attack the basket.  It's such a strength of Tatum's, and yet he averages fewer than 5 FTAs per game (7.2 FTAs in the playoffs).  He's got to work on that skill.  There's no reason he shouldn't be averaging 9 - 10 FTAs per game, like Paul Pierce did in his prime.

Duh. Just look at the box score.

The Celtics need a top center to get through the playoffs.

That's what's missing. No Bam. No Davis/Howard.

They have never won anything without one.

Kemba was great during the regular season and managed to balance his ability to score and getting everyone involved. Even when he was trying to defer, he was always a threat to score. However, that completely changed last round, when Toronto played their zone defense. Kemba basically became a ghost on offense, and a liability of defense. The Celtics were basically playing 4 on 5, since Kemba was useless on both sides of the court. Unfortunately, Miami picked up on it, and used the zone against us again. I don’t watch Miami, so I’m not sure if they played a zone defense much during the year. Did having the extra time after beating the Bucks in 5, allow Erik Spoelstra to implement an effective zone scheme going into the Boston series?

I do agree that Boston takes too many threes. Why take so many threes to start the game last night, especially when they weren’t going in? I thought the Celtics were able to get to the rim for easier scoring chances, than the contested three attempts. As good as Adebayo is, I didn’t think he was necessarily a good defender against people driving to the rim. Obviously, with the exception of his last second block on Tatum. However, knowing Tatum couldn’t pass the ball because of the clock, was a huge factor. Other than that, Bam seemed to be in limbo as to if he should defender the player driving or staying with his man, in case of a drop off.

BTW, one thing that drove me nuts, is how Miami was never called for offensive fouls. Goran Dragic was the worst. Coach Stevens should have said something publicly, so the refs would be on notice. Dragic would constantly either hook or push off with his off arm on every drive. I know Tatum was called for pushing off, so the refs know the rule.

Jaylen Brown shot 50% from three shooting 5.7 threes a game for this series. Not sure he deserves any blame in this regard for this series.

Hey he deserves all the crap in the world for not stealing the ball from his teammates to bail us out offensively! He lacks the requisite aggression to be a top player >:(

In the c's two wins he shot the ball twenty times per game. In the four losses it was 14.8 shots per game. He averaged just over 23 points a game on 65% TS.

The only Jaylen Brown related failing was not getting him the ball more.

I would like to see the Celtics invest some developmental time with him on ball next year. Put him in PnR as the ball handler, let him iso some more, ect.

I like Jaylen and he is a really good player. However, his lack of Basketball IQ is severely holding him back. Half the time, he was defending himself against the zone by just standing in the corner and not moving. I understand that could have been a coaching decision too, but the basketball IQ thing is something I have noticed ever since he came into the league. He lacks basketball instinct. You can almost see him thinking on offense, which helps the defense have enough time to get into proper position.
