I’ve been watching the LAC games and PG13 has been an absolute disappointment.

I think Kawaii had a better supporting cast in Toronto.  Probably misses Siakam.

Heck, I think we were getting more from Gordon Hayward than LAC is getting from PG13. Getting paid the big bucks but 3rd best player on his own team at best.

This isn't anything new. He's always been an underperformer in the playoffs.

It's weird, he had some really solid playoff runs (those two Conference Finals runs in particular), but he has absolutely floundered in both OKC and LA in the playoffs

Glad the C's didn't trade the #3 pick for Paul George back in 2017 lol

Would the Clippers have actually been better off not making the George trade?

SGA & Gallo would be too much to ask for PG alone given how SGA has come along, not to mention the 5 first round picks or whatever it was.

Hell, SGA has been better than PG13 these playoffs!

Hmmm

Quote from: NBA.com
The L.A. Clippers have acquired six-time NBA All-Star Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, forward Danilo Gallinari and the Clippers’ first round draft picks in 2022, 2024 and 2026, along with two first-round choices via Miami (2021 and 2023), and OKC obtained the right to swap first-round picks in 2023 and 2025, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank.

Kind of ironic because they wouldn't have had Kawhi without making the trade for George.  Major playoff slumps are becoming a trend for PG3.

We should all be thankful and even a little apologetic to Ainge. All of us, myself included, at times were hoping we'd trade the pick(s) for other established stars. Some even wanted us to trade #3 (Jaylen) that year for Okafor, Noel and like 2 late first rounders lol. Besides maybe Butler, the rest were not worth it. George certainly isn't.  But keep in mind to acquire Butler we would have likely needed to part ways with at least one of Brown/Tatum and definitely Smart, and some other future picks. And I like Butler but I think this is his peak and I still feel he's a great #2 on a team, but not an alpha so we'd still need to find someone else.

At the end of the day, I'm super happy with Tatum + Brown. Also Danny surprised everyone by trading down from #1 (from Fultz to Tatum) but that looks like one of his Top-3 best moves ever in his career lol.

Kind of funny but I feel PG13  makes things easier by the attention he gets. He may look like he is having a terrible run but he is still a threat

Right, but we have to keep in mind that trading for PG13 landed the Clippers Kawhi. I would definitely make that trade for the combination of Kawhi and George, which is essentially what ended up occurring.

Yeah, that is true. It was basically SGA, Gallo, LAC's 2022, 2024 and 2026 1st rounders, Miami's 2021 & 2023 1st rounders, and pick swap rights in 2023 and 2025 for Kawhi and Paul George.

Considering Paul George can't really play any worse I expect the Clips to get the series, and if they win the chip it'll definitely be worth it. But maybe Kawhi was wrong in wanting PG there alongside him...

Nope.  No PG13, no Kawhi.  Kawhi would be cruising to a title with the Lakers.

But what a monster return for OKC.

His offensive game is overrated. Gets put on too high a pedestal. People expect too much of him.

I know I did back in his early days in Indiana on those Roy Hibbert David West teams. PG13 just could not handle the offensive responsibility he needed to have for those teams to get over the top. And he still has not addressed those flaws.

Still a darn good player but not as reliable a scorer as you'd like (due to lack of easy hoops & FTs from driving, limited midrange game and over-reliance on long distance shooting) and only a low level playmaker.

His defense is better than his offense. High level defender with an above average (but nowhere near elite) offensive game.
