Vucevic is such a skilled big man on offense. He would have fit in really well on this Celtics team. I know there was some talk in the forums here a while back about trading for him. In retrospect acquiring him would have been a very good move considering the direction the NBA game has taken.
I have to imagine that if the Cs want him, they can probably have him. The Magic already have three 'big' men locked up in Bamba, Gordon, and Isaac. I realize these guys are not all Centers, but the Magic could really use some help at the wing position and Hayward would slot in perfectly. Vucevic is also locked up for three more years at big money. With the Magic not exactly making the jump they hoped, they might be happy to get the long term money off of their books.
If Hayward does pick up his option, a 1 for 1 swap would work - perhaps with Boston throwing in a non-MEM pick. I am not advocating for this deal - just saying that it certainly seems feasible. It also cuts Boston's payroll for next season by $8M which can't be understated given the luxury tax.
Although tempting, I would venture a guess that Boston isn't necessarily looking for an offensive Center with limited defense. They are probably hoping TL makes the jump to defensive juggernaut so they can maintain their switch everything D while also keeping a low price tag on that position.
