It is not "The Hall of Very Good Players"
but if it were, he would most certainly be a shoo in.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Lol.  For sure.  Along with Andrei Kirilenko.  And, we’d hear Gerald Wallace lamenting “I should be a lock for the Hall of Very Good Players”.

Would his time in DAL help? He played very well for them in 2010-11 during the championship run.

In any event, I loved those Amare-Nash-Marion PHX teams. Fast paced and a TON of scoring.

Did Nash EVER have weapons as good as those two?

I think his accolades underrate him - his prime (that 5ish year stretch) had him oscillating between All-Star and All-NBA level imo (basically top 20-25ish player). Add some strong pre and post-prime years to that sort of peak as well as the significance of him playing a big role on an innovative Suns team and I think he has a case for HoF. Maybe not a strong one, but it's not as weak as most fans would like to believe imo.

when you let people like this in it becomes cheap for those who truly are HOfers. Perhaps there should be different chambers in the Hall.

They should've beaten the Lakers in 2010 and we would've had a Celtics-Suns NBA Finals.

The NBA HOF is already the Hall of Very Good. Marion has a case, although I don't think he's a "shoo-in."

Draymond Green probably thinks he deserves to be in the HOF too.

The basketball HOF is by far the lamest of them all though, so nothing really surprises me when it comes to who gets in.

So 100% agreement that a bunch of HoFers don't deserve their spots? I can agree with Marion not getting in if those guys get their places retroactively taken away from them

I mean you can find quite some players in the HoF that don't even have the career Green's had. 5 straight All-NBA worthy seasons don't grow from trees lol.

Yeah I missed the second part of his post. But it doesn't really diminish what players like Marion and Draymond did - a string of strong All-Star/All-NBA campaigns is a pretty decent prime.

LaMarcus Aldridge also has had 5 years with All-NBA selections. Blake Griffin has 5 as well. Damian Lillard has 4, but that number will grow (he deserves one this season for sure). Rajon Rondo has had 4. Jimmy Butler has 4 (might grow) and DeAndre Jordan has had only 3 seasons (but twice All Defense 1st and once All NBA 1st).

I’m pretty sure every one of those guys will get in (besides Jordan and maybe Rondo, depending on how long he lasts and what teams do). The NBA hall of fame is already a bit of a laughingstock relative to other leagues’.

And I don't mean to diminish what Green has accomplished.  But I do want to see him properly contextualized.  Green has been a high level role player, not a star.

Green is no different than many before him, very good players that often times get looked at as more important than they really are due to circumstance (i.e. playing for the right team at the right time).  The NBA is littered with guys like him, some of which get immortalized because they played for the right team and others that get forgotten about because they played alongside inferior 'stars'.

At no point though was Green ever more than the 4th most important player on the Warriors.  Durant, Curry, Thompson, and Iguodala were all more critical pieces. I'm not saying Green was an easily replaceable nor unimportant piece to those teams, but he was far more replaceable than the others.

It's just annoying to me that guys like him get in the HOF.  They don't belong there in my opinion.  The same applies to Shawn Marion.  Fantastic role player, but not a star worthy of the HOF.
