I think there are some good points on both sides of this debate, so TPs for all. I understand that it would be great to have basketball back in some capacity. I am sure I miss it just about as much as anyone. However, I just have a lot less confidence that this would really be rolled out in a safe and responsible way than some other posters. We have seen time and time again basically everyone in our country err on the side of profits and the economy too long which is why a thousand americans are now dying every day. Even the NBA specifically kept arenas packed and games going on past when significant public health and epidemiologists had started to recommend social distancing (I am not trying to single them out, basically everyone except the ivy league in basketball did the same thing). Are we really convinced the NBA wouldn't err on the side of getting their TV back versus some young healthy athletes potentially getting infected? I just don't have a lot of confidence in that. Also, for those that are saying the players really have a voice in this. I know that Lebron James has repeatedly says he does not want to play any games without fans. However, if the NBA decides to move forward with a vegas tourney to decide the chance does he really have a chance to act on this if the majority of the other NBA players want to? He clearly wouldn't sit out and miss a chance at a title even if it what he really wanted to do. Removing that angle, these things are voted on and have to just get a certain percentage not 100% right? There could be a decent number of players that vote no and don't feel comfortable leaving their kids, wives, traveling etc. However if the league votes to do this, do they actually have a choice either? Lot of complicated parts of this...
