At this stage I had 4-5 guys with almost identical value, so I was completely okay with moving down, especially as Jvalin had a specific target.

With the 10th pick in the second round, the Dallas Mavericks select Ray Allen.

Nice pick. He was one of the guys I'd been considering, and he has proven chemistry with LeBron. Second greatest three point shooter ever for my mind

Allen should have gone before several of the players taken before him.  Might have even had him before Pierce.  Just so many options for him.  I think people forget how athletic he was in Milwaukee before he got hurt.  That 00-01 Allen was an incredible shooting force and the Bucks were an excellent team (ECF).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

Couldn't decide between Ray and Klay. wdleehi selected Klay and saved me from the trouble. :)

The way I see it, Klay is the better defender. Ray was better at pretty much everything else (including shooting imo cause he was taking far more difficult shots).

Yep, this is the season I plan to select.

Man, Allen before Pierce is nuts to me. Pierce was the better scorer, rebounder, playmaker and defender

I'd much have Ray in this.  A #1, but yet can play like a 2 or 3 and did consistently throughout his career.  That 01 Ray Allen is just flat out better than any season of Klay Thompson (there are other Allen seasons you could choose as well, but he was at his best in 01 I think) and I don't think it is all that close.

I was trying to avoid tooting my own horn, so I'm glad someone defended Paul Pierce here.

Ray is a much better shooter, but there's no way he's more well rounded than The Captain as far as being a complete player.

Agreed.
I said might.  I really think later Ray Allen, i.e. post injuries, has made people forget just how good he was on the Bucks and he was even better in the playoffs that 01 year (which was an ECF run).  Allen with his athleticism was just a much different player than without and his shooting has always been incredible.  Best shooter in basketball history before Curry.  Can hit from everywhere including both off the dribble and catch and shoot.  I'd probably have taken Pierce before Allen, but I would have thought about it.  There are still a few guys that are better than both of them still on the board though.

Anyone interested in 2(12)?  I'd be looking for at minimum my 2(12) + 5(3) for your 3rd and 4th.  I think it might be fair to request a little more on top of that, but I'd ultimately settle if nobody does.

If my pick comes around before a trade agreed and one guy is still available, then I'll be drafting him and then holding him for trade ransom later  ;D

People forget Ray Allen was once in the Slam Dunk Contest. His athleticism early in his career was off the charts.

That is what I've been saying.  There is a reason he was the star of He Got Game.  Jesus Shuttlesworth was an incredible athlete.

If I was Utah GM, there would have been some $#@#$# with the last two selections.  Thought they might have Ray and certainly Klay available to pair with Shaq.

After MUCH debating with myself, I've decided to pick the only point guard ever to win a DPoY. The guy went head-to-head with the GOAT, and lived to tell the tale. With the 11th pick of the 2nd round, the Denver Nuggets selects...

The Big Fundamental may be the ice, but Gary "The Glove" Payton is the fire.
