Los Angeles Lakers forward/guard LeBron James and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum have been named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in February.

James posted averages of 26.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 10.1 assists in 10 games during February. James also becomes the first Lakers player to earn the award in consecutive months since Kobe Bryant in December 2008 and January 2009. Tatum averaged 30.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 12 February games. It’s the first time in Tatum’s three-year career he’s received the monthly honor.

tatums goal this year was to average over 20ppg. Nice to see him go over 30ppg for a month

JB - 2 players of the week.

the future is bright here, we have such a great core of young players, JB + JT, Smart, Theis, plus young guys who have shown us something and are going to get better -  Grant, Timelord, Romeo.

I definitely remember that Pierce/Walker co-POTM award.  I  had become a fan in the 90's (pretty much right after Bird/McHale/Parish left), and that was the first time the C's looked legit.  19-12 at the end of the Dec '01, tied for the 3rd best record in the league!  This was pretty exciting after not having a winning record for 8 years.

Interesting looking back now, that was first year the award was split by conference, so Bird probably could have ended up with several more.

That was a rough time to become a fan - the 90s were a dark time for the Celts.
