Last night's game is the first time I didn't just think that Tatum had Leonard-type potential, but that I think he will actually get there. The guy is still just shy of 22 and will be better in 3-4 years than he is today. Think about that.

He was last evening, but unfortunately one game does not make a career.

Leonard hands out 5.4 assists a game. In my book that is a huge stat. Besides scoring 27 a game, he consistently makes players around him better. Jayson isn't quite there just yet.

I think if anything Tatum's play this season just shows that the early speculation that he could become a superstar in this league was not unfounded.

Leonard took a massive leap this year in playmaking, he went from a great finisher into a great offensive centrepiece.

A little more strength, a little more court awareness(assists), a little more aggressiveness, and a little more confidence, then do it for 2-3 straight years and the comparison will be right in line.  I have little doubt now that his ceiling is at that level.  Up to him to get there.

On a second note.  Does everyone wish Harrell was on this team.  The dude can ball.  That is the player we are missing, or porzingis.  One of those 2 player types.

As the OG OP, I can tell everyone that I was being highly facetious when I started this thread.

He played better than Leonard last night (and Leonard looked gassed late--so much for load management). But I recognize he is not better than Leonard.

Yet.

That day may come. It may come soon. Still, it's definitely not the case yet.

The way Leonard can control both sides of the court is frustrating for opponents.

NOT CLOSE

And this is coming from someone who sees JT as a potential MVP one day.

I dunno, the Clippers fans are placing the loss on Lou Williams and Harrell (and PG). Made me rewatch the game. From the looks of it, they are blaming the 2 for freezing out Kawhi and Shamet. Lou Will especially. They are actually blaming Doc for playing Harrell instead of Zubac. Could this be a case of grass is greener on the other side? Maybe this is how we look from other teams POV.

I mean, I love the kid and he has a ridiculously high ceiling which is seemingly coming more apparent game by game but he's not better than Kawhi right now.

One day, maybe.  I sure hope so.

Tatum, Smart and Lou Will are all better than Leonard ;D

But seriously, JT isn’t there yet but he’s making a case of being the team’s best player. Kemba better watch out!

Tatum will be better than Kawhi if his game keeps improving and he keeps getting stronger.

My comparisons for Tatum is a Kobe-like game and Brown has more of a PG13-like game.

Great win last night.

No, but the fact that he can outplay Kawhi for a 5-10 minute stretch at the end of a close game means the C's may be closer to championship-caliber than I thought.

(and Leonard looked gassed late--so much for load management).

Hot take: Load management hurts your cardio.

I think it’s a bit premature considering Kawhi has proven time and again to lift his game in the playoffs, leading to two Finals MVP’s and two titles.

However, I haven’t watched the game yet. When I do I’ll probably revisit this thread and hail JT as the second coming

We were all excited after the win
I totally get it. Just finished the game, and wow! Tatum & Hayward were awesome in the last OT!

Really shows you what a difference a game makes in how we view our team

But so much better to spend this ASB in a good mood than slitting wrists
