Do they do a snake or just alternate for picking starters? If they're just alternating I can understand taking Embiid first (you need someone to match up with Davis, and Embiid is the only starter that can), but if he also took Siakam over Kawhi... yikes

I think Giannis went for team building over names.  I actually like his teams size and defense capabilities.  I think that will pose real problems for team Lebron.  That said, Giannis' need to pick Middleton 1st will always hamper his bench because there is no way Middleton should ever be the first pick of the reserves (while Lebron can take Davis 1st for starters and not hamstring the lineup). 

If you really look at the matchups Lebron or Kawhi has to guard Giannis leaving the other on Siakam (while Davis has to take Embiid).  I think that is a large problem for Lebron's team and I like that strategy from Giannis.  Then Giannis by adding Gobert and Adebayo took away any bench help for that size and Lebron was left with only Jokic and Sabonis as the only bigs on the bench.  I think this will be a fascinating display of old school size and defense vs. new school speed and shooting.

Good analysis.  To your last point, LeBron's team is simply more talented and have enough size to neutralize any attempt at "old school" basketball.

That said, I'm not watching either.  The Skills Challenge is the only thing worth catching over the past 10-15 years.
