Iggy has championship level experience, but yeah he has a lot of miles on the tires, but not much on them this year.  He will be fresh for a stretch run and to give them minutes in the playoffs.

The second year is non-guaranteed. He's getting a one year extension and then will be a potential trade piece or just can be moved off the books.

Yeah, why on earth? They are just outbidding themselves as they could have easily re-signed him this off-season. Nobody was giving him more than the MLE...not a team he wants to play for anyway.

Edit: just saw that the 2nd year is not guaranteed. Not as bad, but still unnecessary.

He likely said he'd refuse to report if he didn't get an extension. Miami wasn't on his desired trade destinations.
