Wow! Glad we didn't go after Capela, but RoCo would have been a really good bench piece here I feel.

Good trade for all four teams imo. Denver got a first for a small downgrade in deep bench players, Houston got the elite 3 and D wing they desperately needed, Minnesota got a surprisingly decent return for an amazing 3 and D wing and Atlanta got a young and athletic rim running centre they needed for a non-lottery pick.

So what’s Morey’s end game here? Plugging one hole and adding another. Something else has to be lined up.

I read that Houston is 10-1 when Capela doesn’t play.  I guess they feel their roster performs best without a center.

That's with PJ Tucker manning the 5 though, he'll be dead come playoff time if the Rockets continue running him into the ground (he played 41 minutes tonight with nerve damage in his shooting shoulder!).

ESPN Sources: 4-team trade agreement: Houston: Robert Covington; Atlanta: Clint Capela and Nene; Minnesota: Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Evan Turner, ATL 1st round pick via Nets; Denver: Gerald Green, Houston FRP.

Deal is agreed upon, and players are being informed now
Something doesn’t add up. Probably another player from wolves is going to Houston

The deal involves 12 players — the most since 2000.

Houston:
OUT: Capela, Gerald Green, NeNe, 2020 1st rounder.
IN: Covington, Jordan Bell, Golden State 2024 2nd round

Minnesota:
OUT: Covington, Shabazz Napier, Jordan Bell, Noah Vonleh, Keita Bates-Diop
IN: Brooklyn 2020 1st round, Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Evan Turner, Jarred Vanderbilt

Atlanta:
OUT: Evan Turner, Brooklyn 2020 1st round, 2024 Golden State 2nd round
IN: Capela, Nene

Denver:
OUT: Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Jarred Vanderbilt
IN: Shabazz Napier, Keita Bates-Diop, Gerald Green, Noah Vonleh, Houston 2020 1st round

The teams haven’t had a trade call yet, so it’s not impossible an additional team still gets roped in.  It’s unlikely that team will be Golden State for Russell.

That's with PJ Tucker manning the 5 though, he'll be dead come playoff time if the Rockets continue running him into the ground (he played 41 minutes tonight with nerve damage in his shooting shoulder!).

Presumably Convington will help alleviate Tucker’s workload.

That's true, but Covington is best at the 3 defending wings - I wish Houston would sign a big to do that (or play Hartenstein a bit more).

I’m not trying to guess what any sort of lineups/matchups there will be.  I’m just noting that if they traded 3 players (including Capela) who they weren’t playing, and added one (Covington) who will get over 30 minutes a night, others are going to be playing less.  Tucker seems likely to see a reduction in minutes.

Could Jordan Bell return to that handy bench piece he was in GSW?

Could an ET reunion be in the works for the Cs? He'll most likely be bought out.

I’ve been suggesting that all season.  Javonte is a nice story, but I’d rather have one more ball handler down the stretch in case of injuries, especially one that has had a mutual comfort with Stevens in the past.

I’m all for this move. Plus he’s fun - think he’d fit right in with our team chemistry wise

I don't see why not - he's the switchable big that Houston likes to play alongside Harden and Westbrook.
