What makes you think Ball will be that good? He has the exact same concerns as Lonzo but with worse defence. Melo cannot shoot and has a terrible IQ when it comes to shooting.

In the NBA Iím hoping LaMelo settles into a facilitating role. He has shown an elite passing ability. This coupled with the fact that he has legit wing size ( supposed to be slightly taller and longer then Lonzo) makes for a very interesting player. If he can shoot even slightly better then his brother he is a 6í7 16pt 6rb 7ast per game player.

So basically a worse Ben Simmons? Thatís what I see as his trajectory. Heíll obviously be a better shooter, but heís smaller, a worse athlete, a worse scorer & a worse defender.

Not sure heís a clear cut top prospect at all. Heís worse than Wiseman for me, and probably Edwards too

He isnít my #1 by a landslide but he is a player who I think succeeds no matter who drafts him. I donít think this is the case for Wiseman and Edwards.

Also I would agree that the better shooting worse Ben Simmons comp is fair and likely still the best this class has to offer.

not terribly encouraging for whomever we pick or for the trade value of the pick if we move it

The top of this class is going to be really discouraging for a bottom feeding team looking to turn their team around by drafting a franchise player/face of a franchise. This draft just lacks star power.

For the Celtics the Grizz pick is likely to fall in the 12-16 range. This range should yield the Cs a nice group of potential higher ceiling role players to plug in around the Tatum/Brown core.

Some of these players will be off the board but the Celtics could end up wit

a high ceiling Kemba backup with solid to great positional size in
Haliburton
Hayes
Hampton
Mannion
Maledon

an athletic 3/4 with small ball 5 potential in
Toppin
Achiuwa

another big to plug into a center by committee rotation in
Reed
Stewart
Carey
Smith

Thoughts on us picking a guy like Okoro? I've heard some really good things about his defence, if he could develop into a top of the pack defensive wing he'd make our defence pretty nasty.
Rockets PG: Westbrook, Rivers, Clemons SG: Harden, Gordon, McLemore
SF: House, Carroll, Caboclo PF: Covington, Green, Williams
C: Tucker, Hartenstein, Bender
Warriors PG: Curry, Jackson, Bowman SG: Thompson, Lee, Poole
SF: Wiggins, Okoro, Anderson PF: Green, Paschall, MKG
C: Looney, Chriss, Smiley

I'd be thrilled if the C's were able to land either Toppin or Okoro. Athletic, defensive minded wings are always valuable.

I'm not sure either will be available to us, though, as in a draft devoid of any true franchise cornerstones, I expect teams to to be looking for that next Marcus Smart / OG Anunoby / Pascal Siakam type.

Okoro fits the mold of a DA draft pick. Like Smart and Brown he has a great physical profile with high end defensive potential but suspect shooting % in college. If the Cs draft him I would be happy because im confident in BS's staffs ability to develop his shot.

However I would probably take Saddiq Bey before drafting Okoro. I prefer Bey's already productive outside shot and the fact that he comes from Villinova where Jay Wright has a excellent track record of putting out NBA ready players.

This is my updated big board up to 41 prospects. Like my previous list this is broken out in Tiers but not in the sense that tier 1 is a superstar tier 2 is an allstar etc... My tiers are simply the draft groupings, IE draft every player in Tier 1 before Tier 2 irregardless of team need.

On this big board each tier is ranked based on who I think the Celtics Should take

Tier 1
1   LaMelo Ball   G
2   Anthony Edwards   W

Tier 2
3   Onyeka Okongwu   B
4   Deni Avdija   SW
5   James Wiseman   B
6   Tyrese Haliburton   G
7   Killian Hayes   G
8   RJ Hampton   G

Tier 3
9   Cole Anthony   G
10   Isaac Okoro   W
11   Obi Toppin   B
12   Precious Achiuwa   B
13   Saddig Bey   SW
14   Theo Maledon   G
15   Tyrese Maxey   G

Tier 4
16   Nico Mannion   G
17   Immanuel Quickley   G
18   Isiah Stewart   B
19   Jaden McDaniels   SW
20   Patrick Williams   SW
21   Tyler Bey   SW
22   Jalen Smith   B
23   Aaron Nesmith   W
24    Devin Vassell W
25   Josh Green   W
26   Jahmi'us Ramsey   W
27   Matthew Hurt   SW

Tier 5
28   Cassius Stanley   W
29   Leandro Bolmaro   W
31   Paul Reed   B
32   Aleksej Pokusevski   B
33   Reggie Perry   B
35   Trayce Jackson-Davis   B
36   Zeke Nnaji   B
37   Kira Lewis   G
38   Vern Carey Jr   B
39   Nick Richards   B
40   Jordan Nwora   W
30   Tre Jones   G
34   Payton Prichard   G
41   Cassius Winston   G

I was never a Vernon Carey Jr. guy. I thought his conditioning and possibility he could balloon up naturally, given his dad's size as an NFL player, and would hold him back.

But ...he was a top 10 recruit going into Duke last year and has shown he does have some skills. You now have in down in the late 30's and, while I am not high on him, I still see him as a 1st rounder, as I doubt some of the better teams in the league would pass on him late in the draft.

Heís definitely a first rounder, but there are some concerns. Watching the NC State game right now, and he is just getting murdered in the PnR defence. Guards are blowing right by him, and half of it is due to his really poor positioning when the screen is set.

Considering how pick and roll heavy the NBA is that could be a problem. His physical issues are already well covered

I may have swung to fare on Carey Jr but I think its simply smart drafting to de value non versatile bigs and undersized / non elite level athlete PGs. Those two positions are the easiest to fill via NBA min free agency, 2nd round pick, or Euro FAs. That is why my 5th tier is mostly bigs and pgs. Even Stewart and Smith I was hesitant to place in the 4th tier but I think both will be better NBA defenders then Carey.

To fill the bball void I have been looking back to find players who I missed in my big board. One guy who I think was a huge miss was

Xavier Tillman

I would go as fare as to possibly place him in the bottom of my tier 3 or top of tier 4.

The first thing that jumps out to me about Tillman is his statistical similarities to Al Horford

http://www.tankathon.com/players/compare?players=xavier-tillman--al-horford

The stats that are most promising are his assist/TO, block and steals. Like Al (and Theis) Tillman lacks ideal center size. He is listed at 6'9 245 and has a reported 7'1 wingspan. If true that puts him in the Al/Theis size/length range.

While not a flashing pick it is very easy to see him plugged into the Cs current big man rotation.
