It seems quite clear that our team has a great thing going in the locker-room. Everyone is seemingly friends with one another, making jokes and most importantly having fun on the court. This is in pretty stark contrast to the team last year.

I think DA is in the right to not try to upset that, no doubt. I think last season was quite a lesson in the importance of a team that gels, especially one with lots of young talent.

I also think an important aspect of Danny sitting on his hands so far is the fact that not many, if any of the trade targets available were either ones we could legitimately pursue without massively overpaying (Capela), or worth adding to the team to try and round our team into true contention (Dedmon). Our contract situation further complicates this - two max contracts, a poison pill contract, one mid-level contract (but he's a stud) and a bunch of rookie / minimum-type contracts.

It does suck to miss out on shooters like Burks, but I don't think that we necessarily need them. Semi and Grant have also stepped it up recently

By overpaying you mean Capela's salary ? Cause atlanta gave up Turner's expiring a first from the Nets and a second. TBH they got a dolar for pennies

Other teams will make moves and we will do nothing.   Let's not forget that Toronto make some deadline deals that won them a title.    The question is there a deal that can assist us to beat MIL and PHI and get us to the finals while maintaining our core?

Danny loves picks!!! But we just need to get healthy..how many games have the Celtics played with everyone playing? Not many..so this concerns me as we get in playoffs..if 1 or 2 of our main guys are out, then we have no chance
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark

Good excuse to reminisce over IT, ma god.

I remember immediately liking bringing him in. Great ball handler, fun to watch, good finisher. Watching him explode was truly a great time for us. I really hate checking Washington boxscores these days... 3-12, 1/4, 2 assists, 3 TOs...

It's for someone else to go into details, but, IT landed us FAs, league respect, and national media. Mad love for the dude. Massive supporter of the hospitals.

Trader Danny has traded his way into a team that he cant trade easily.

We have Spurs level continuity and eventually I think he has to consider something like a George Hill for the Kawhi pick type of deal just to shake up the fabric of the team and make us less predictable, though the need for that could be years away.

Philly will get eliminated in the first round, mark my words.

Yeah, we would have had to either gut our bench by trading Kanter, Theis, Langford and I think one more guy, or move Smart. Both overpays for my mind.

Most of the teams doing deals are desperate. Why should the Celtics go to their level? They got two young All Star Wings, an All Star Wing returning to form and an All Star guard plus a group of hard nosed young players. Why make a major move?

Because the team is on the verge of winning a Championship.

If you believe the team is close, then making a move like Miami made has to be done. Miami went out and got at least 1, if not 2, players that will immediately make them better and didn't give up much in the process.  The Sixers, clearly have issues, but they went out and got 2 players that fill a need for them for basically nothing.  The Rockets pushed their cards in and went for it.  Denver picked up additional assets for deep bench players presumably so they could make a more impactful move.

If you think this team is close then it needs to make moves.  It has to shore up the bench and get depth.  The team could use a few more specialists and someone that can create offense for the bench unit.

On the other hand, if you don't think the team is all that close then sitting back and doing nothing is probably the correct move.

I remember a year ago, literally every other East contender made a move to get better, except the Celtics. And so far this season, the Sixers + Heat are making additions and I expect the Raptors and others to follow suit.

Come on Danny, make a move! We need bench scoring and/or a depth big

It is frustrating to see other teams improve and the Cs stay put. Do not like the bench at all come playoff time..esp after Williams, Smart and Kanter. They need a 3 point shooter at the 4. Do not think guys like Semi or Langford provided much offense when it comes time for the playoffs.

I hope Danny isn't overvaluing his picks again for this draft. They are all pretty average in an average draft. Nothing special worth holding onto.

Depends if Danny thinks the team can really compete for a title.  I know what they say publically but the public statements are rarely completely accurate to actual belief.  If Danny thinks this team is not quite positioned well enough, he isn't, and shouldn't, make minor moves that give up any real assets.  The problem I have with a lot of the moves being made is they don't involve much compensation going out.  Trading a few 2nd rounders to improve the bench is a move that should be made basically every single time.  Trading 1st rounders or real player assets is a whole different matter.  To move on from those you need to either be a real contender or you need to get a player that gets you into that status.

It would have made 0 difference had he made trades
