Since the Philly game, he's averaging 12/12 and almost 2 blocks in 22 minutes a night. That's strong.

Kanter has been killing it off the bench recently. Quite frankly, he’s been great. Another case of Stevens putting players in positions to succeed. He also seems like a great teammate so I think he’s been good for overall team chemistry.

I very much wanted Robin Lopez over him.

He has been much better than Robin Lopez by basically every meaningful cumulative metric. I was completely wrong about him.

He’s been holding up his end of the bargain, playing inspired ball and how.

When was the last time Boston was so good on the offensive board? Enes is currently getting 18.8% - wow. That’s better than Al Horford has gotten on the defensive board this year... I’m just sayin’...

He takes a lot of knocks for his defense, but he’s getting a lot done, has a knack for getting his hand in and dislodging the ball in close quarters in the paint. Great hands, not just on offense.

Looks like he’s stopped taking midrange jumpers - the last one was maybe in the last game with Philadelphia?
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Absolutely love what he’s offering. Despite the tired arguments about his defence (in the face of our team defence not suffering with him on) he’s been a huge piece for us.

Haven’t seen an offensive rebounder like him since ... I can’t think when!

Kanter definitely helps us beat teams with losing records—he just destroys their second units.

I also agree with what you said. He’s definitely a huge piece. I’m excited to see how he might progress as the year goes along.

Kanter is perfectly fine with the 2nd unit.

It's the starting Center spot that needs an upgrade.

Forever lol, I don't think the Celtics ever had an elite offensive rebounder (at least on Enes' level, we might have had a few good ones) in franchise history.

Yeah, I feel like Russell might have been, but who knows.

Go Enes! $5m is a complete bargain

How soon we forget. Paul Silas was the best offensive rebounder in the league for most of his time here in Boston. A pillar of two titles here in the 70's.

He was fantastic, but his ORB% was about 5 points lower than Kanter’s current one. Not sure I’ve ever seen a guy with seemingly limited athleticism gobble up offensive boards like that.

^this, I don't think Silas was on Enes' level. Add in how offensive rebounding rates in general have dropped off in the past few decades and I think it's pretty safe to say that Kanter is in another dimension when it comes to offensive rebounding.

This is not to suggest Silas was a worse player than Enes, he was a fantastic big man for the Celtics in the 70s that Kanter can only dream to be like.

Different game back then where teams often had 2-3 players sitting in the paint and were putting at least 2 top notch rebounders under the basket as much as they could. Silas played tons of minutes alongside Cowens, another very good offensive rebounder in his time.
