Boston chose guard Tremont Waters with the 51st overall pick in the draft, a selection many wrote off as nothing more than a second-round flier. And although Waters has spent a majority of his rookie season playing in the NBA G League, the LSU product apparently is generating significant interest among NBA scouts and front offices.

@KeithSmithNBA

One last name that came up repeatedly talking to front office executives and scouts about the G-League Showcase: Tremont Waters. Water is on a Two-Way with Boston. "He's an NBA backup PG right now. I told our GM to trade for him, because he's better than what we have today."

Lastly on Tremont Waters from a scout: "I missed on him. Big time. Thought was too small for our league. But he's tough and fast. I don't know what he'll be beyond it, but he's an NBA backup point guard at least. And that's valuable because everyone plays three PGs a night now."

Ha ha!

Of course, the article includes the comment from another team exec:  "We'd ask, but Boston wouldn't listen."

Implying as desirable as Tremont might be, Danny's expected price may be too high.

Easy to understand why.  I love watching Tremont play.   He's so tough and fearless and one of the most creative play-makers I've ever seen coming out of college.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
We have PG covered with Kemba, Marcus and Wanamaker for this year. How much is value and who would want him.
I would trade him to GSW for WCS.
"People look at players, watch them dribble between their legs and they say, 'There's a superstar.'  Well John Havlicek is a superstar, and most of the others are figments of writers' imagination."

Funny how many are coming around to what I, and a few others, thought when we saw him in the preseason  ;D.

Anyway, I'm not trading him at all right now.  I  have no idea about the contract situation but if he's as good as I think he is, Waters is my third guard next year.

trade Wannamaker keep  IT2.0 ...Danny is no fool , he can see how cool Waters is on the floor ,  natural PG .  Keep him long as you can

Keep the better of Romeo / Edwards

Was for edwards , now leaning toward Romeo ....Romeo got lenght , speed , quickness and like ET seems to operate in the paint with confidence .

A really really great center like KAT is gonna take giving up like Smart ,Brown , Hayward

Waters and Romeo would be a nice second backcourt.

I guess there are contractual reasons not to give him a deal during the season this year....ability wise...I certainly would.  I think he's good enough that he could help the C's in the playoffs.  I think he's better than Wannamaker overall.  You never know...injuries happen...if a trade allowed us to change Waters' status this season I'd be very psyched.

agreed on next year.  I see Wanamaker moving on for more money.  Waters steps into that backup role nicely next year -- provided Danny doesn't land a PG stud in the first round in the coming draft with what's looking like 3 picks

As they should! He looks legit as a backup already, which is awesome for a 51st pick, or whatever he was. Hopefully he gets some run with us next year (can’t see him jumping Wana, and don’t want any more injuries)

Rewatch Romeo’s clips from the last two games. If he stays healthy (which I think he will) you may feel better about him.

Celtics have the brightest future of anyone in the NBA. Seriously, they are the youngest team in the NBA (look it up) and have a lot of young developing talent.

Tatum and Brown, obviously
Williams, Williams, Langford, Waters, and Edwards are all probably legit NBA rotation players. Great drafting.

I agree on Waters. He's a good player. He might be starting for like 5 teams in the NBA and is probably better than half the backups.
