Romeo Langford goes down again...

I read that he got injured again and my first instinct was to roll my eyes, but I just saw the video of him getting hurt.  A dude landed on his foot hard.  It's not his fault.  He has had horrible luck.  Hopefully the law of averages will play out and this crap will be behind him.  He has potential.

Yes!  I am nowhere near giving up on Romeo.  Of course I almost never give up on a pick (still trying to will 3's in for RJ Hunter).  But Romeo has looked promising to me in the few minutes we've actually seen him play.   Hope he gets back soon and then actually sustains some good health.

There's no doubt Langford's a talented kid.

But how can he get minutes with the 2 Jays, Smart, and Hayward all getting heavy minutes?

It's just not a good fit.

I think Langford will blossom if he's on a lottery team.
The kid is a true SG.

He's not a good fit right now, but who knows how he might fit in a year or two.  If he's an NBA player, he's worth the pick.

In a year or two Celts will be busy trying to win more championships.

There will not be time for player development.

Langford will just rot on the bench.

If Langford isn’t taking 10-15 minutes a game next year I’ll be disappointed. He’s got a much higher ceiling than Carsen, Semi, Javonte. Kid has a lot of potential as a creator/second-team scorer and the frame to become a good, long defender at the 2.

I think that's fair.

No doubt he has the highest ceiling among all Celtic rookies.

But if Ainge will upgrade the team and get a quality big man, I think Langford will have to be sacrificed because Langford's salary might be needed to make salaries match.

Too early, yes.

But I don't buy the long term aspect.

Celts have the two Jays and they will be in the very long term.

Only way Langford is going to get minutes is if he's better than Carsen Edwards.
But because Langford is not a shooter, he's not going to beat Carsen in the rotation.

Right now Carsen is struggling, he's still not comfortable with his role.
But once Carsen gets going, watch out!

Also, from what we saw against the Nets, with Allen and Jordan, the Celts clearly need a better big man.
 
And to get that big man, maybe Ainge will have to sacrifice Langford.

It's funny that this autocorrect/typo happened, because I can see Carsen following the Avery Bradley trajectory of being hyped up, hyped down, and then rising from the ashes to being a solid pro (in a shorter period of time).

You might want to take note that my first post in this thread was "Too bad for him." Health is always more important than playing status. That said, he's still a basketball player, and it's not wrong to comment on his playing status.

So I'm not allowed to assess or comment on anything—players, stocks, or otherwise—until a certain amount of time has passed? Fine. I won't say another word about the guy until he's either an all-star or out of the league.

In Brad Stevens' system, you have to make 3s, especially if you're a guard.

This is also not the season that Romeo could beat out Carsen.
Maybe next season, if Romeo is still with the Celts.

I think it's just a matter of time.

We also have to remember when Romeo was drafted, there were lots of uncertainty surrounding the Celts.

Kyrie was rumored to be leaving and Horford opted out of his contract.

Maybe Ainge drafted Romeo because Romeo had the most potential and could be used as trade bait later.

It's a shame. I hope he doesn't end up having an Exum-type career where you never see his talent due to constant injuries. Some of these injuries have just been terrible luck as well.
