Regarding the Langford pick, it's not that Langford is not a good player, it's about picking a player who can help the Celts right now.

There were better options at #14.

With the 2 Jays excelling right now, there's just no future for Langford with the Celts.

Only way Langford will get an opportunity is if the Celts trade Smart or Hayward.
But that's not going to happen.

So it's not Langford's talent, it's just not a good fit.

I think it's best if the Celts cut their losses by packaging Langford in a trade for a big man.

Celts won in NY, but it was not impressive.
Clearly the Celts had trouble defending the likes of Randle and Portis.

If the Celts can get a quality big man for a package that includes Langford then it's for the best of the Celts and Langford.

I don’t believe that.  First Hayward is already around 30.   As he gets deeper into his 30’s 2 or 3 years from now he’ll probably start to take more of a back seat role.  That’s if he is still on the team then which is no guarantee.   Same thing with Walker.   Second, we could certainly use a little more scoring off the bench which maybe he could help out with the 2nd half of this year.  Third considering at one point he was considered a top 5 prospect I would not be surprised if he is the best of them drafted right around his range.

Saw the injury - he landed on a defender’s foot and rolled. Looked like a play that could give anybody an ankle. It’s weird; I don’t remember him being injury prone in college. Yes he had the hand, but he played through that and wasn’t out with other injuries. Played 32 games, averaged 34 minutes.

Once Hayward's contract expires, he'll likely get an extension for 3 years.

If Langford isn’t taking 10-15 minutes a game next year I’ll be disappointed. He’s got a much higher ceiling than Carsen, Semi, Javonte. Kid has a lot of potential as a creator/second-team scorer and the frame to become a good, long defender at the 2.

I hope so, but a year ago I thought we'd be contending right now with Kyrie and AD.  Who knows, let's keep developing what we have.  Langford just needs to improve his shot.  That's a big deal and difficult to do, but there was a reason he was such a high prospect coming out of high school.  Many guys haven't been able to improve their shot and many have.  He has the other skills.  Let's just root for the guy.  There's no reason not to.  He is a Celtic.

Siakam developed just fine on a contending Toronto squad.  Development and winning aren’t as mutually exclusive as a lot of people seem to think.
