The Celtics say that, after further examination, Kemba Walker is doubtful to play tomorrow against Sacramento with a neck sprain

#Celtics  list Kemba Walker as doubtful for Monday's game against the $Kings, meaning he has not been placed in the league's concussion protocol.

Ummmm that would be surprising given that it looked like he was knocked unconscious for at least a second after that collision.

Guessing this means this was more a neck injury than a concussion injury. Not sure if that makes me more or less concerned. Maybe a massive stinger?

Yeah that's what it sounds like. No concussion protocol plus a diagnosis of a sprained neck. If we add to that the reports that all imaging tests came out looking good, it sounds like a stinger and he avoided any serious damage.

Very happy that Kemba seems to be okay. It seems he'll be playing sooner than I thought.

I don't think he was ever out. He caught himself when he went down.

Eh his entire body went limp, and Brad Stevens said something along the lines of he was unable to communicate right after the collision. Maybe he wasn't out, but there was some issue with his brain communicating with his body.
Usually even the mention of concussion like symptoms gets you in the concussion protocol.

But I'd imagine if he's not in it he's been cleared by league doctors so really best possible news.

I’m wondering the same thing. So if he’s not in concussion protocol, I guess that’s good news?

Smart was the only one that mentioned Kemba has been dealing with neck issues since Team USA when he strained it. Having a jolt to your neck and what we saw sounds scary so he is fortunate but why is the team not commenting further on this issue? Does it need to heal with time off? I would hate to see it get worse and be dangerous to him.

I’ll feel better when we get a better idea of when we can expect Kemba back.

Waters was just called up.  Not sure that this tells us much about Kemba’s time table though.

They'll probably hold him out tomorrow, but I think he's going to be back much sooner (like end of this week) than any of us expected.

Which would be amazing. What a relief! Can't wait to see Kemba's smile back on the floor.
