Before the season started when everyone was predicting the celtics to take a step back I said we need to wait and see because those were based on taking the stats of everyone from last year and plugging them into this years team.

I said if Hayward returns to form and and both Tatum/brown take the necessary jumps and there are more defined roles this team could be better than last year.

So far, all of those things have happened and Kemba has fit in beautifully in a ball movement offense.

While I still have concerns about our big man rotation the shot selection is what it should be. We have 3 players averaging over 20ppg and brown is at 16-17. After that everyone has fit into their roles

I predicted 56 wins for this Celts team.

6-1 to start the season is a small sample size, but it's looking like the Celts can get 56 with the way they're playing now.

I predicted us to finish over 50 wins pretty comfortably barring injury. Go Celtics!

Team started off 16-2 with Kyrie his first season before dropping back down.  Have to give it some time and see if the clear flaws on the team can continue to be overcome with solid overall offense.

So you are not having fun?  Too bad.

Can't say I'm shocked. It's rather predictable at this point.

Without question.  Team is way more fun than last year.  Haven't enjoyed the team this much since the playoffs in 2018.  And even then it felt improbable.

Right now the team is playing really well and it feels like, "oh yeah, this is what we thought this team could be."

I feel weird about it happening without Horford.  Horford felt crucial to the team on both ends.  He was crucial to the team on both ends.  But maybe him leaving required giving other players more responsibility in a way that was important for their growth.

I know it's early.  Still need to wait and see.

That team also went to the ECF and lost to the best player in the world. What is your point?

They've been really fun to watch so far.   It's only November but the chemistry is already very much there.  I'm amazed at how good the ball movement has been so far.  Obviously, removing Kyrie from the equation has helped in that department but the passing from the guards to the bigs has been really fun to watch.

It's odd that the Celts were averaging more assists per game last season.
Celts averaged 26.3 assists per game last season.
This season, Celts are only averaging 23.1 assists per game.

I think it's more of Kyrie controlling the offense a lot last season.

This season, Kemba and Tatum are shooting a lot, but we don't notice it because no one is hogging the ball.

I think the discrepancy in APG might have to do with the teams aggressive approach.  There's been more of an effort to seek mismatches and attack the rim.  Another positive is that the Celtics are averaging 4 more free throw attempts this season.

Without looking at stats, I'm also curious to see the splits in assists from 1st to 2nd half.  The Celtics have gotten off to a bunch of slow starts.

I feel like the Celts this year are getting a lot more transition points and just a lot more quick shots in general.  Those often won't be assisted since it's one player finding an opening and attacking right away.

The maturity of Brown and Tatum, coupled with the recent resurgence of Hayward. (hopefully it continues) The way they're looking for each other,
THE ASSISTS!

At the end of a close game we have a 4 headed attack. The days of Kyrie Irving only at the 5 minute mark in the 4th quarter is well past.

If they hold their own on the boards for an entire season.

Yeah...I'm having fun.

YES!

There's a lot to like. My personal favorite is watching Hayward collect a loose ball and push it hard up the floor with the other Celtics all out on the break. Lot of beautiful passes and finishes.

Didn't say that.  I had fun during the 16-2 run also.  I had fun during win streaks last year as well.  Having fun and winning when it matters are not mutually exclusive.

Yes, because Celts are attacking the rim more this season.

Last season that was not the case because the ball was in Kyrie's hands most of the time.

Kyrie wanted a Cleveland style offense where Tatum, Brown, and Hayward would just have to shoot if Kyrie is doubled or unable to score and he passes them the ball.

Watching Brown cross over and change direction when a defender runs at him —watching him stop on his drives to upfake a defender or pass out to an open shooter — been a lot of fun to watch his growth!
