6 game winning streak watching a Celtics team play selfless basketball.

At first I thought the "team first, we have each-others back, love one another" was just an act - over compensation for the disaster that was last season.. but the more I watch the more I am realizing it is true. These guys really do look like they are having fun out there. There are no me first players anymore, it can be any one player any given night and the rest of the team will feed off of it. It is really great to see and has been a lot of fun to watch.

I think the 'de-mambaing' of Tatum has worked, I was concerned after game 1 but I think he has put the team first ever since. There has also been a lot less of his hands up in the air/barking at the ref after every missed drive to the basket now.

Hayward... nothing needs to be said about him, couldn't be happier for the guy.

And Kemba.  I think last nights game made me realize what this guy is all about, you heard the stories about him, but seeing the love Charlotte had for him first hand was truly remarkable. It was great to hear stories of the hard work he put in, how he never quit on a horrific team and just worked on improving himself and the team year after year. More importantly the love and dedication he put into the community. Talk about a tale of two point guards comparing this year to last. I loved the interview with his mother during the game, she clearly raised her son the right way.

I don't know how long this team will sustain this success, they could very well be regular season over-achievers and ousted in the second round yet again, that said it's just fun to want to cheer on the Celtics again.

Hate be a grinch but Still need a legit Center..Enes is good, Williams cant score and Theis will be hurt
Bench is not that good..Carsen belong in Maine..Semi shouldnt be on the team..there is not a guy who can put up points on the bench
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Add me to that group, too.

But still what makes me happy, are these "small" games winning. We used to lose those easy games last year  too often. Strong mentality rules among the team.

The big man concerns still remain but this group has been a joy to watch.  As for the bench, I was talking to a friend the other day about how great it's been to rely upon our top players for most of the scoring.  The Celtics should be more than fine with a bunch of grinders off the bench.  I'd be more concerned if we relied upon 1 or 2 guys for everything.

I also disagree with you about Semi.  He's an absolute necessity for defending Giannis over the course of a 7 game series.  That alone warrants the roster spot.

My fear is that this is a team built for the regular season.  The Atlanta hawks from several years ago if you will.

Over the course of a series, will the celts be able to hide their weaknesses?

flipside - will the other teams be able to handle the C's strengths?

If Theis maintains his elite defense while bringing his offense back to being average and Robert Williams improves over the course of the season into a defensive specialist who can give us 20-25 MPG without killing us on offense we'll be in good shape. I believe that our PF position will be fine - Grant Williams looks like a seasoned vet who can give us 15-20 MPG to combat bigger lineups, and we can always play Theis at PF.

People keep bringing up the Hawks, but they went to the conference finals and lost to LeBron, which is what happened to every good team in the East that LeBron wasn’t on for 8 seasons.  LeBron teams had the top record only twice in those 8 years — the only weakness that caught up to them was not having LeBron.

I don’t know how good this team truly is, although I’ve been on the 55+ wins wagon since the offseason.  But I do know that LeBron is in the West now, so I’m not worried about being “exposed” like the Hawks.

They've been really fun to watch so far.   It's only November but the chemistry is already very much there.  I'm amazed at how good the ball movement has been so far.  Obviously, removing Kyrie from the equation has helped in that department but the passing from the guards to the bigs has been really fun to watch.

The test will be playing teams with size more often (teams like Philly, the Lakers, etc.)

Another good point. Bench is a bit scarce when it comes to guys who can help carry the game while the starters are on the bench.

It's odd that the Celts were averaging more assists per game last season.
Celts averaged 26.3 assists per game last season.
This season, Celts are only averaging 23.1 assists per game.

I think it's more of Kyrie controlling the offense a lot last season.

This season, Kemba and Tatum are shooting a lot, but we don't notice it because no one is hogging the ball.

Team started off 16-2 with Kyrie his first season before dropping back down.  Have to give it some time and see if the clear flaws on the team can continue to be overcome with solid overall offense.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

So you are not having fun?  Too bad.
