Maybe 4th best player, (or 5th Smart), but an important piece. Hope he's back soon.

I'd argue he's our second best player after Kemba. A more efficient scorer than Tatum and our second best defender after Smart, with a slight edge over Hayward because of his aggressiveness / explosiveness.

I dunno how much more efficient he is than Tatum. Tatum shoots much better from the FT line and is a better shooter from deep, but Brown has the edge in 2P%. Tatum has a 1% advantage in TS%, turns it over a tiny bit less, but also generates less free throws (barely) than Brown.

I'd say Tatum has the edge in efficiency.

On any given night I think our second best player is one of our three wings.

I guess I was going from the eye test - Tatum just seems to take a lot of inefficient long range 2s (that he misses) and isn't very good at finishing at the rim. Jaylen pretty much seems to just shoot at the rim or from deep, which at least decision-wise is considered much better. I'm surprised the shooting percentage is so close . . . though Tatum has been trending down since his rookie year, and Jaylen has at least maintained with an uptick in this year's small sample size.

Has not played a lot this season; either due to foul trouble or illness.

...getting impatient here

He definitely is our best player
Um, he certainly is not.
Um he certainly is one of our best players.

he most definitely is not 'certainly not' one of our best players.

That's definitely fair - I think so far this season JT is our worst shooter inside the arc, so you're not wrong. He's just been crazy efficient from deep.

Huh? He's at worst a top 5 player on our team...

Anyway, regardless of where individuals see him in the best player hierarchy, I hope he's doing OK.

Signing a NBA contract extension doesn't stop you from getting a respiratory illness, and perhaps a secondary infection due to being on strong antibiotics.

I caught a bad cough that stuck with me for two weeks. Same illness put my wife on breathing treatments, steroids and out of work for over a week!

NBA players are people and they get sick.

Is it a respiratory illness or  something else?

I have no clue, but given that he's practicing while still dealing with an "infection" that is separate from the illness I have some speculation.

My suspicion is that he had some sort of illness, got prescribed some big antibiotics and then developed some gut issues. (Antibiotics often can cause a bowel infection which basically means diarrhea that could get really bad if they don't get you off the offending antibiotics and potentially treat the new infection)
