The hornets, who I thought were gonna win like 18 games all year (they still could), are somehow 3-3. I poked around their stats a bit. After a rough couple of opening games Rozier has been averaging 20 over the last 4. Is this better than people expected or about the same?

The PPG doesn’t surprise me.  It’s the decent efficiency for him that’s out of the norm. Let’s see if he can keep it up.

There was no doubt about Rozier's talent.

But the Celts were not going to win a championship with him as the lead guard.

Replacing Kyrie with Kemba was a stroke of genius by Ainge.

It's really looking Kemba's a perfect fit in Brad's system.

Rozier is putting up numbers that are consistent with his track record as a starter.  At a quick glance it appears that the Hornets have been much better with Rozier on the bench.  Their 3 wins have also been against bad teams.  I still think they're winning 25 games at most.

T-Roz is performing about as well as you would expect -- he's a bad backup and a below average starter.  He's more valuable as a starter than as a backup, but you ideally would like to have a better starter if you want your team to be any good.

Charlotte being 3-3 is a bit of a surprise but BBallRef says they're 20th in ORtg and 26th in DRtg. They're going to be as terrible as everyone thought over the course of the season.

In those 6 games Rozier is averaging about 16-6-4 and shooting 43/35. On a bad team with no great scoring options, that's pretty much exactly what I would've guessed he'd average and what I assume he'll continue to average for the season.

Charlotte beat Chicago in the first game.  Rozier was -18 in 30.5 minutes and the team was +19 in the 17.5 minutes he was on the bench.

The last two games, Charlotte has won.  Against the Kings, he was -5 in 35 minutes while the team was +12 in the 13 minutes he was on the bench.  Last game he finally was a + in a win of course it was against the Warriors without Curry, Green, or Russell. He was +11 in his 36.5 minutes (the team was -5 in the other 11.5 minutes).

In other words, the Hornets have beaten 3 bad teams almost in spite of Rozier.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I hope the Hornets love him. I'm glad he's gone. He got his big payday and has a starting spot.

Why surprised?  This is who he is.  We had plenty of time to see it.

Hornet scoring, Rozier on/off: 105/107 (-2)
Hornet defense, Rozier on/off: 117/106 (-11)

Why isn't the thread title "Letting Rozier walk: dodged a bullet"?

what was his plus minus as a starter with C's?  Certainly a bigger sample than 5 games to start this season...

Sure but the main topic of the thread is how he’s playing on the Hornets so far this year. My point is just that he hasn’t been good in those games, he’s been the opposite.

Not sure why this is surprising..
A. He played well for us as a starter.
B. Everybody last year had a down year on this team.. (save for that 1 guy)
C. He's a player who can actually "play well" as a starter... This we all knew.
