Celtics picked up third-year option on center Robert Williams, league source tells ESPN.

don't think there will be a lot of argument here about that decision

Huh? I figured we package him (his salary), and Tatum for some center and then fire Brad Stevens after tonight.

He’s making very good progress.  Won’t be any more than a dunker but can be the long awaited rim protector if he can shore up the other aspects of defense.

No brainer..

Hope he develops a 1 to 2 dribble move to the basket so as not to waste his athleticism.

RWill has the potential to be the future big man of the Celts.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I wish Williams developed a respectable jump shot, but I'm okay with him being able to stretch the defense by using his athleticism to catch gravity defying lobs. He also seems to have a great knack for making smart passes, and honestly if he can actually somehow hone his working mid range jumpshot, I don't see why he can't develop a 3 in like 4-5 years down the line, similar to Al Horford's trajectory, minus the fact Horford took quite longer.

I'm glad he's here. I know people don't think Grant Williams is our future PF, but if both the Williams can develop more defensive focus, I can see them both being our future starting frontcourt.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply
We're the same and we're not; know what I'm saying? Listen
Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

There's really a big chance of that happening.

With the Celts entering luxury tax territory in the near future, it's not far-fetched that both RWill and GWill will be the starters in the next 2-3 years.

GWill is the real deal.
He's to the Celts what Draymond is to the Warriors.

He's surprising me so far.  He's not there yet, but his head for the game is improving.

agree he has some good instinct for team play an sees the court better than I thought at this point.  Work hard and smooth out the ruff edges .  He is getting there.
