Obviously it is very early but should Celtics fans be concerned that the team is only shooting 40.1% overall and 33.3% from 3?

Walker 40.4%, Tatum 34.4%, Smart 33.3%, Edwards 25%

Expect those % to go up a lot as the season progresses - - they better because they can't beat the Bucks and Sixers with those stats.   We will see how they do tonite versus the Bucks...

It's not that weird or surprising if you consider they opened the season against the Sixers and Raptors and their fourth game is against the Bucks.

That's 3/4 of the best defenses in the league.

On balance the Celts are going to be a potent offensive team that most opponents will have a difficult time stopping.  That was on display against the Knicks.

Against quality defenses, especially opponents that have a lot of size / long arms, the Celts are going to struggle.

three games and a thread such as this appears? even by BS standards that is an over reaction.

let's wait until game 20 or so before making any judgements.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

and yet we are 3-1..

if that is the case, once guys like Tatum/Walker start shooting their career averages we will be an offensive powerhouse.

Can't we let people make comments about the Celtics without making any judgments about it?

Are they? We are 3-1. We lost to the favorite for top seed in the East on their home floor and we’ve played three playoff teams.

I would definitely like to be better at the five, but to me the surprise of the season so far is that we are actually not getting killed on D. im wondering more if the success is sustainable.

I think it's sustainable.

This season's Celts team is more active and relentless in pursuing the ball.

Last season the Celts were looking like an old team.

Teams with size are usually slower. The Celtics are feasting on them this year cause they are quicker and play faster. Something they couldn't do as much last year with a ball dominant player and Hayward not the same guy coming off a serious leg injury. The second half against the Bucks was a textbox example of what a smaller and quicker team can do to a bigger and slower team.

Most of their comments are usually silly overreactions though.

Well the Celtics already beat the Bucks so yeah.  ;)

These are too small a sample size to say anything. The only thing you can say is the Celtics are 2nd in the league in shots attempted at 96 a game. They are playing fast and moving the ball. The only team ahead of them are the NO Pelicans who amazingly are scoring 121 a game but are 0-4 cause they don't play a lick of defense. The Celtics play fast on both ends of the floor.

Concerned?  I'm thrilled.  We're 3-1 against a solid schedule despite only shooting 40.1% from the field.  How good are we going to be when we begin shooting a percentage that is more in line with what our true percent really is?

FYI -- the Knicks last season were the worst shooting team in the league last year at 43.3%.  So consider that as an absurdly, stupidly low floor that we will certainly be better than.

Celts shooting badly is compensated in other areas of the game.

This season the Celts are more active and relentless pursuing the ball.

Celts also forcing lots of turnovers, so it's giving the Celts more opportunities to score.
