All of the positive assets the 76ers currently have are the direct result of the front office's and organization's incompetence and inability to do due diligence... Why would anyone expect that to suddenly change or become the opposite? Just because they somehow managed to draft two perennial All-Stars?
*They drafted Markelle Fultz, who was labelled as one of the biggest busts considering he obviously went from being a consensus first round pick to being traded away after two years, with basically nothing to show for it. It was only after his departure, did Fultz actually look like a serviceable player in the league.
*They managed to team up two top 20 players in the league, who quite literally have the worst chemistry on the court that I've ever seen in two dominant All-Stars.
*Brett Brown suddenly went from being an experienced well known coach and protege/assistant/best friends to Coach Popovich to somehow being crucified on the daily for his X/O's, lack of fundamentals, and inability to convince his All-Star PG to even attempt a freakin' 3 pointer..
*They gave Tobias Freaking-What-Have-You-Done-For-Me-Lately Harris $180/5 years, not to mention they followed that up by not only giving Al Horford $98/4, (107 with incentives), but are now bringing him off the bench. And their excuse for signing Horford in the first place is to give Embiid some extra rest due to his inability to have solid discipline + great conditioning fundamentals. And because they were tired of Horford slowing down Embiid.
*They not only let Jimmy Butler walk after one of their most successful seasons, but their argument was that they needed someone who could space the floor and create offense. But Embiid/Butler had great on-court chemistry, both great defenders, and both of them took the tough shots in the clutch. I'd certainly give Butler that max contract instead of Harris, despite concerns over his mileage due to being coached by Thibs.
To this day, I still don't know what the 'Trust the Process,' even actually meant...Did it mean be intentionally be bad for the next few years, try to abuse the system by hopefully scratching a few lottery tickets in hopes of landing on something, and then magically become a competent organization somehow? It doesn't quite work like that unfortunately.
Inherently, I rarely boo anyone. Unless I seriously don't like them, but if you sometimes visit Liberty Ballers, majority of them are consistently right for booing or voicing their frustrations. I think it's totally justified. Their management just plain outright sucks, the Colangelo fiasco was also ridiculous, and while Hinkie was the fall back guy for intentionally tanking. I think they would've been better served giving Hinkie a shot to have stayed past his contract or at least not let him go so quickly.
Hinkie probably wouldn't have ever let himself get finessed the way Colangelo did against Ainge during the 2018 draft.
They took their fanbase through some of the most toughest times, with false promises of a bright future that they honestly probably have no ability to provide now. They need to make a fierce decision as to who to build around, eliminate or cut off some bad contracts. I think their better off trying to find someone to take Horford or Harris. Heck, Bertans or Kevin Love would be better suited on that team right now.
