My only concern is if the cap drops due to loss of BRI from China. If so this could end up being a bad deal.
I kind of agree here.
It's entirely possible this ends up being a full max contract, and if the cap drops as far as I think it might, his contract actually would have to be scaled down.
Now, if the cap were to stay at the projected $116 mil for next season, this isn't terrible, as it would only represent roughly 22% of the cap. That's still quite a bit more of the cap than I'd want to pay Jaylen, but it's not that bad so long as the cap keeps rising.
But if the cap comes in somewhere closer to $100 mil next season, as I suspect it will, this ends up being a full 25% max contract. That's not good value at all, not unless Jaylen makes a leap this year.
