Waters and Strus are on G League contracts so I don't believe they count on the 15 man roster. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

They are on two-way contracts, so they don't count against the 15 man roster but they DO count against the 17 man roster
I'm bitter.

Green hasn't played against top competition, however, every time I see him play he stands out.  All you can do is play against the guys you play against.  He seems like one of those diamond in the rough players -- like when Bruce Bowen or Adrian Griffin started with the C's.  They stood out by making contributions each time they took the floor.  That's what Javonte does.   I think he is the keeper of the "bubble" group.
Green is also 26 years old, almost 5 years older than Jayson Tatum.

Not sure why you think Semi is a lock but Theis isn't (I personally think they are both locks).

Theis is pretty much guaranteed a roster spot, in my opinion. He has proven he can be a decent big, and he is literally our only big with legitimate experience off the bench.
Theis is guaranteed a roster spot because he just signed a contract and can't be traded until January. Wanamaker, Kanter, Poirier, Edwards, Grant Williams and Langford are all in the same boat. They are all guaranteed to be here for months unless Danny decides to cut them and just waste millions of dollars that will stay on the salary cap numbers.

That's not actually true for the 1st round picks: they have been eligible to be traded since 30 days after their contract expired. The other guys can either be traded starting December 15th or January 15th
Oops. I knew that. I stand corrected. You are right about Langford and Williams. I will chalk that up to a senior moment.😁

given the roster depth at wing/swing I think I go Fall with my 15th unless we drop one of the 2 ways and sign him there.

wasnt he the guy in summer league who made a series of bone-head decisions/moves near the end of the celtics lone loss?

one game. pre-season. let's wait and see before making final decisions.

perhaps green will show himself to be more valuable than semi or wannamaker. but let's wait and see.

Wanamaker can't be traded until December.

Semi can be traded any time.

If the Celts are keeping Javonte then I think it's going to be Semi getting traded for a 2nd round pick that won't convey.

Top Roster
Walker, Hayward, Tatum, Brown, Tacko

Mid Roster
Smart, Kanter, Theis, Edwards, Langford

Rest I'd call Low Roster. Lower roster anyone can be moved or cut.

Wanamaker should be safe for a roster spot unless Danny makes a surprise move for a different PG.  It's a long season and the Celtics will want a traditional PG behind Kemba and Smart.  I envision Carsen Edwards as a pure scorer off the bench, as opposed to a PG who can run an offense.  There's also going to be nights where he goes ice cold.

Really hope Semi isn't a lock. He looks to yet again not have improved much, if at all. It was only one preseason game though, so I might be being premature in my judgement.

If Green pulls out another performance like he did against Charlotte it makes it very tricky. I really hope we keep Tacko, but a high-energy athlete like Green could be really awesome
Semi has shown he can guard guys like Giannis without wetting himself (he actually does a really fine job), so he is probably a lock. It would take an absolutely amazing preseason performance by someone unexpected for him to be left off.

Remember: Ojeleye has at least proven he has a legitimate NBA skill in being a solid defender who can guard multiple positions. The rest of these guys are fighting for roster spots in preseason for a reason.
He does, but I'm not sure how worthwhile his NBA skill is if he continues to be quite useless on offence. Even if he just hits the 3 at 35% I'd be perfectly happy with keeping him, because he is quite a good defender. I actually think his defence is hampered by routine poor calls against him (see him getting charged down by Giannis time and again).

I'd just be bummed out if we let Green go and he goes elsewhere and tears it up. We'll see.
Semi should be on the roster Opening Night due to his excellent individual defense.  No one else on the 20-man has that skill.  However, Grant Williams might have this capability, in which case Semi could be moved before the deadline.

I liked Wanamaker last year but he looked sluggish in his first game this year. Carsen Edwards looked really good.

I'm reading the article on this site where Theis is being given consideration as the starting center. Yikes! That would be a bad move! Theis is a back-up player and that's it. Hope they go with Kanter or Rob Williams.

https://www.celticsblog.com/2019/10/8/20904910/kanter-likely-to-come-off-the-bench-this-season

Marc D'Amico

@Marc_DAmico

Brad also talked highly of Daniel Theis. Mentioned that Theis already has a feel for everyone in the starting group, sans Kemba. I think the starting job comes down to him and Robert Williams. https://twitter.com/marc_damico/status/1181609376387387393

Hope this Marc D'Amico is wrong. Theis is only 6'8. Are we really going to have two guys at 6'8 playing power forward and center? We're going to get killed!!

Theis is a backup player but Williams, a player who hasn't demonstrated to be much better than a G League player, should start because he, what, isn't a backup player?

Granted, I don't think any of the options for starting at the center position are good. At this point in their careers only Kanter can argue he has shown the ability to be called a starter level player at the center position on this team.

To me, they're all backups!!!
