Official Heights

Some notable new 'official' heights from elsewhere in the league:

Kevin Durant: 6' 10"  (previously 6' 9")
Zion Williamson:  6' 6" (previously 6' 7")
Dwight Howard:  6' 9" (previously listed 6' 11")
Draymond Green:  6' 5" (previously 6' 7")
Isaiah Thomas:  5' 8" (previously 5' 9")
J.J. Barea:  5' 10" (previously 6' 0")
Joel Embiid:  6' 11.75" (no real change)
Ben Simmons:  6' 9.5" (previously 6' 10")
Tobias Harris:  6' 7.5" (previously 6' 9")

Hmmm.... Grant Williams' 6' 6" ain't looking that shabby right now.

The older I get, the more I think we make too big of a deal of a few inches with these guys. A lot of the information we have about heights isn't even right. Trust what you see on the court, not on the paper.

Height is definitely overrated, and length/ability to "play bigger" gets underrated (by casual fans, at least). Where the top of your head is is not as important as where your hands can go, and how good you are at taking up space

The Celtics of a few years ago are a great example: if you have to defend an inside center, do you play the 7' guy with an all outside game, or the 6'9" rebounder that carved out tons of space with his backside? If you ask me, I'd take Sullinger over Olynyk any day

He was horrible and that is the reason is out of the league.   Don't confuse mass to hold one's position with good defense.   Guys used to drive around him, and he would just watch them.   I won't even get started on his shooting.   The main difference is Sully was not soft in terms of playing attitude ( he was in a Michellin Tire Man Way) but Kelly could be at times.

Guys stay in the league for a reason and exit the league for a reason.   Tons of GMs would sign if what you said was true, hence it is not.  He is playing in China, the purgatory that used up NBA players go too.

There is also a difference in how players play this season versus how they will play 2 seasons from now.  He was an NBA player for a few years and played decently, and above average rebounder, average defender, and below average shooter.  Sully ate his way out of the league, losing his lift and modest quickness making him below average at everything.  Kelly has been a little more consistent in his time in the league, as an above average shooter, below average rebounder, and at best average defender for a stretch 5.  As it is a 3 point league, he has a niche, but any degredation of talent and he will exit the league as well.

Problem is that now you have to compare these heights to all the other NBA players. 6'8'' (Williams) might be a normal size for a center now.

Honestly, nothing on this list surprised me that much.

I've always felt that standing reach and core strength were more important criteria for "size." I say standing reach because some NBA players have really long arms and high shoulders, and other don't. That let's you get more vertical. I say core strength because you have to be able to take impact and keep your arms up to defend shots.

Is there a full list of all NBA players' revised heights anywhere?

Also agree with you re: height, an inch here or there doesn't really make a difference to me...wingspan is more important IMO.

Seeing online that Derrick Rose is now listed at 6’1”
