This is fantastic news. I have been a stickler for getting to the bottom of heights for years. It's odd, people have gotten mad for saying Horford is 6'8" not 6'10"

Smart is 6'2" not 6'4". I really don't mind if they inflate the players height an inch or so but we all should know what their true no shoes height is because that's how we're all measured at the doctor's office that's my point of view.

Now it's not soooo bad we have a 6 ft 5 power forward in Grant Williams.

IT must have been an honest 5'6"

I except the measurements with sneakers because that's how they perform.

This will settle the "the 60s were short and unathletic, so Russell and Wilt dominated playing against milkmen!" argument nicely.

Until Grant gets remeasured at 6’3”.  :)

Well, the NBA just measured Grant 'officially' without shoes as 6' 5.75" at the Draft Combine.  I expect they'll use that number.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

That's not too bad now that I've seen Zion's measurements lol.

So I guess Durant will shrink down to 7-1?
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Height is overrated anyways. I've always felt the reach is far more indicator of how the player functions as basketball players use their arms 98 % of the time.. Who the Heck uses their head to block or rebound anyways.

He’s officially 6’10” according to new measurement.

I've never seen the point of exaggerating one's height.  I could dunk it when I was 6-2 and grew to 6-7 but dunking at 6-2 was clearly more impressive to me.   This is not wrestling where they hype up to make them larger than life.

It does not say the measurement needs to be without shoes. Player heights are usually understood to be with shoes on unless otherwise specified.

Marc Stein

@TheSteinLine
Height will be measured with players' shoes OFF, I'm told. Player weight will not be sought because that number fluctuates so often ...
Thanks for this, I hadn't seen it. Since most heights were not only likely exaggerated, but also with shoes on, it is almost certain that most players will now be listed shorter than they were previously. A few who had been under-reporting their heights might go up. I'm curious to see what the Celtic's players will be measured at. Has anyone seen the new heights for the Celts?

I think it's a combination of shoes and exaggeration

Some of the Celtics revised heights:

Kemba 6’0"
Jaylen 6’6"
Hayward  6’7"
Tatum 6’8"
Kanter 6’10"
Williams 6'8"
Fall 7'5"
Edwards 5'11"

Tatum is the only one who didn't shrink which really isn't a surprise.

I got them from a couple of sources, but they're all now listed in this thread.  https://forum.celticsstrong.com/index.php?topic=101355.msg2723582#new

Or here they all are below.

I'd be shocked if Waters was only an inch shorter than Edwards. I guess looks can be deceiving.
