Had the USA taken FIBA gold I'd have been up for the season. I'm getting tired of all the disappointing collapses this team is involved with. I also don't like how this year's team is constructed either.

I think you put way too much value in FIBA.

I have to admit that I wish the C's foursome that played for USA had taken the world by storm, but they didn't (of course one was injured).   That said, I am very excited to see this team grow over the course of this season.

Kemba's one of my favorites so I'm excited to see him play a lot more often.  Though I kinda felt that way about Kyrie too (he was entertaining a lot of the time).  I really think Hayward is going to shine.  He is super driven to prove himself.  Tatum is the key I think.  He needs to step up and become an all-star level player for them to be in the conversation with Philly and Milwaukee for the EC.  I also have strangely high hopes for Kanter.

An awful lot of rookies.  We shall see...

GO CELTS!
Yup

I agree.

That's why Steve Bulpett of the Herald reported that the Celts are not done dealing because the Celts believe they're not on par with the elite teams in the NBA.

But this current Celtics team will definitely be better than last season's Celtics team.

The only question is what move will Ainge make to put this team on the same level as the Bucks.

I'm excited for the new look NBA. The big 2 era with legitimate depth around each duo is way more watchable than the 3-5 stacked teams. A lot of strong upstarts like Dallas and New Orleans bolster a top ene of the league that goes 10 deep. IMO this is the most parity the league has seen since I started watching.

Optimistic about the Celtics. Hayward is a lock as an MIP candidate and has the opportunity to take the reigns as the elder statesman. Kemba is the best case scenario for a post Kyrie world.

Realistically we only need one of Jaylen or Tatum to take the next step for us to be competitive especially if Romeo Langford develops.

I feel this team bolstered it's future this summer while remaining competitive in the here and now. There's probably at least one more big trade or signing in this team's future but until then I look forward to this squad finding their place in this new era.

Does anyone know if any of the initial practices will be open to the public?

I’m pretty much in Nick’s boat.  It’s awesome that we got rid of the ballhogs and head cases.  This team has a lot of good characters which makes you root for them much harder.  But this is the first year in a long time that we decreased the overall talent of the team after years of adding to the talent level.  That part isn’t very exciting.

I feel the same. Doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the season. But I think when the team has an extremely disappointing and underachieving season like last year, it stays with you for a while. On top of that, with the exception of replacing Kyrie with Kemba, was anything really done this offseason to improve the team from last year? Same coach, same core, lack of size, same everything.

Which is why my expectations for this year are optimistic but tempered at the same time.

I think Brad will adapt and improve a bit in terms of getting his guys to not be static on offense and lethargic on defense. Btw evidence points to him thriving with this type of team-he coached the Celtics to a top 4 defense with a pu pu platter of big men in Olynyk, Sully and Amir Johnson. And I think we got bigger just by virtue of swapping our starting C from Horford to Kanter. Sure we're still woefully undersized at the PF spot, but Kanter keep our rebounding afloat and possibly our interior defense if Brad works his zone magic.

Plus if Hayward is as healthy as he says, that should certainly help.

I guess we forget (myself included) that him not really playing well at all last year was a big factor in our disappointing season.

After many years, I'm a pesimist. Since Stevens took the team, we were growing every year. Now, when we should have finaly reached our championship-level, it seems all just fell apart. We were waiting for Davis all the time and after all the saga, we lost Irving, Horford, Morris as well, Rozier, Baines. Personaly, for me the outcome is terrible. We have Kemba, Tatum and some shadow of Hayward. That's about it.
Don't expect much. I'm sick of being satisfied with the players that fight for each other, have a great chemistry with the fans and the coach and the team that reaches 2nd round of playoffs at best.

too much went wrong last year for me to have wonderful thoughts about this year.   Selfish people making millions is a huge turn off.
