That Lakers team looks very different now after acquiring Doc and Cowens.

G: Steph
G: McGrady
F: Dr J
F: Garnett
C: Cowens

Wow, Garnett and Cowens together! That is awesome. I hadn't put 1+1 together until then. The all out effort & intensity of that duo! The help defense and defensive mobility on that backline. The rebounding. The passing. The full court running. Those two together are going to be a nightmare to play against.
I don't have the Doctor, there was miscommunication during the deal. I'm sorry for the drama caused. Meanwhile I'll probably play KG at the 3.

No wing wing defense at all though, and not much size.

Tip for all owners:

When responding to trades in PMs with other GMs, do not hit the "Reply" button.  Instead, always use the "Quote" button.  That helps ensure clear communication and it makes it easier for GMs.  I sometimes have multiple offers out there at a time and if I get back a simple reply "I decline" I have no idea what trade offer it was.  The quote helps me see that.

And TPs to nick for being the best commish ever.

TRADE:

Dallas sends Julius Erving and 6(5)
Los Angeles sends Anthony Davis and 8(2)
My sincerest apologies-there was a communication error in the deal (Dallas thought it was only the sixth round pick, I thought it was with the Doctor). I apologise for the inconvenience and drama, the deal will likely be voided.
I have confirming PMs from both GMs saying this was the deal. The trade was approved. Send me PMs from both GMs explaining what happened and we will see if the trade is voided. For now, trade stands.

This is just very strange because as I pointed out, Dr. J was selected a full round before Davis.  It makes no sense that Dallas would give up the "better" player and the better draft pick.

If I were LA, I would want to pair Steph up with another Splash Brother (not literally that guy, just another player of that style of play).  I think that brings the best out of Steph and we know that Steph can bring the best out of that kind of player.  But that might just be a very narrow-minded view by me at first glance.
Your not alone. I was thinking the same thing about Steph. Not that he wouldn't fit in other offenses. He would fit - brilliant at that.

Just something about the freedom of a three point heavy offense and having multiple similar threats stretching .... seems to, I don't know, have an additive effect to each other. Help to bring the best out of Steph.
I'm not sure if I can do that, I currently have McGrady as my SG.

He can very easily play SF.  I initially considered him a SF until I saw him as SG in your sig.

FINALLY.

GREAT pick.  I don't know if the fit is perfect (I think I liked another guy at that position better for your team), but if he's not then he was a great value and should be very tradeable.  I had him as my 4th ranked point guard.

Barkley had some issues in Phoenix with his PG there. More related to style of play than egos. Barkley wanted to slow it down and iso. The PG needed to speed it up and play fast. They never got the best out of one another as a duo. The PG's best years were pre-Barkley because of this despite being in his prime next to Barkley.

Barkley had some similar issues next to Hakeem (too much iso slow down and iso ball from Chuck + offense didn't run through Hakeem enough anymore). They lost some of their team identity with Barkley despite Chuck being a net positive for them. But Chuck was old by then and had slowed down considerably. I don't read much into that.

I liked how Barkley played as a young player next to those older stars (Doc, Moses) in Philly. Plus, he was brilliant on those Team USA squads and in All-Star games.

Edit
: In Houston, again style of play rather than egos and style of play being exacerbated greatly by age and decline in athleticism. That is why I don't put much much stock in it. A younger Chuck would have fit in better. Plus, Hakeem deserves some blame too.
This was more or less how I was thinking.  I think I might even use one of those earlier Chuck seasons as opposed to his MVP season.  Chuck, like Shaq, had weight issues when he got old.  Had they both been in better shape, I think they both could have played longer and at a higher level in their twilight.  Probably would have missed a lot less games as well and it was those missed games that helped contribute to the weight issues.

I'd rather avoid having him guarding the LeBron/Kawhi/Bird of the world, he struggles to defend big forwards from what I know.

That was the guy I was thinking of who I wouldn't draft because of fit.  Clearly the best career of anyone left entering the day.  Top 25ish player all time.  2-time champ as the best player.  played with multiple HOFers.  Not the easiest guy to get along with, but can't beat the value as a 4th round pick.

With the 4(4) pick the San Antonio Spurs are proud to select one of the largest men to ever step on the court.
A true gamechanger based on his size alone.

Not only was he big, he is the best player equipped to defend Shaq and Wilt (as shaq himself said this was his toughest challenge)

Not only could this man defend his position, pass, block shots and rebound, he was an excellent shooter and a proper floor spacer. In the season I am looking at he played all 82 games, recording 17.5 ppg, 9rpg, 1.5apg, 2bpg on 52% from the field and 81% from the FTline.  A true professional, anyone who ever met him, loves him. He was a tremendous glue type player who gladly took a backseat to players he knew he needed to.

The SA Spurs Select the Giant, Yao Ming

This player allows Hakeem to slide over to PF where his quickness and range allows him to be dominate there, bullying smaller PFs with his strength while easily being able to keep up to them defensively.
