Yes, I realize the idea RJ getting invited to camp sounds unlikely given the glut of guards and wing players. But, I am sure weirder things have happened.

I'm thinking maybe the C's might want to check on his progress since last season. And, if it's significant, they might keep him in mind should a roster spot open due a trade or major injury.

He's well thought of by the organization - this is evident by the team bringing him back for a second look last season.

Anyone think this is in the realm of possibility? Or, should this be posted in the "Maine Red Claws" category?

Probably a good choice for him. It was good to see him get a little burn last season; he's worked on his body, clearly, which I think is the main thing holding him back. He's 6'5" 185, a very weird combination; does not have the quickness to stay with most ball handlers, or the strength to hang with the NBA's wings.

A year abroad where he's got the ball a lot should help his development.

He's got some intriguing skills, can handle and pass and has a good feel - can run a pick-and-roll as the ballhandler.

Perhaps he could aspire to be Shaun Livingston with a 3-pt shot.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Well, exactly. That's why I say that he could aspire to being Shaun Livingston with a 3-pt shot.

The potential is there: he's a career .347 in the G-league, on a lot of attempts.
