Our wings picking the numbers of arguably our 2 greatest wings (Hondo over The Truth is a legit debate), huh. Wonder if that's purely coincidental ;D

Larry Bird and Paul, huh?

Would've LOVED to see Paul Pierce and Larry Bird play together but hopefully Tatum and Brown can create some magic with those numbers while playing for Team USA.

I love Pierce but Hondo was a much more accomplished player than him. Hondo was the wing version of Oscar Robertson in his prime with the "it factor"-he was a couple of boards and assists away from averaging a triple double in his best years, and lead the Celtics to two championships as the #1 guy on the team.

I guess FIBA changed the rule, used to be you can only wear numbers 4-15.  I believe this will be the first time players are allowed to wear numbers outside of that specific range.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yep - Sorry, Gouk but Havlicek was clearly a superior player to Paul Pierce, though both were great. Besides leading the 70's Celts - along with Cowens and Jo Jo - to two titles, he was probably the key guy to help Russell finish his career strong as the core of the dynasty started aging in the mid 60's.

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Actually Russell could've probably won championships with any high volume scorer that can score a lot of raw points regardless of efficiency. This link describes his transcendence the best: http://www.backpicks.com/2018/04/02/backpicks-goat-3-bill-russell/. He was a franchise player who befuddles common analytics by being a low volume scorer who'd drag teams to contention with video game defense and additive offensive value to "inefficient shot chuckers" who're relatively easy to find compared to stars.

Don't get me wrong, I also rate Hondo above Pierce. I think a fair amount of folk would argue otherwise, but they're probably less interested than we are

Agreed Gouki - I am hoping Brown and Tatum did pick those numbers because of their historical significance to the Celtics. I like our two young cornerstones (hopefully) embracing the tradition of the their franchise, Ya never know about these millenials ...........
