I think there is a good chance Timelord will often be in Maine and not in the active roster. He needs to play a lot, not get spot minutes.

Waters and Struss are on 2way contracts so they don't count on the 15 man roster. I hope Tacko gets that 15th roster spot.

That’s true, but it can change. Waters could be put in the 15 man roster which would open up a two way slot.

If he isn't in the regular rotation this year there is something very wrong.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

A hardy handshake and welcome aboard to Tacko Fall.  If ever there was a frontcourt where a raw prospect could force his way into some minutes it would be this one.

Honorable Mention to Timelord for being 14th man on the active roster... When you're not the most dominant big on your  summer league team you know you're probably not ready for prime time.

Picture Brad Stevens stammering about swings, and wings, as he ogles Javonte Green's size, athleticism and shooting.  He may not need another wing, but [dang]it that's never stopped him before!

Tip of the Cap to Waters and Langford as they continue to improve their games in the developmental league.  With some hard work and determination either one of these guys could be the 15th man on the roster next season.

I think Wanamaker will have a bigger role this year. not just garbage minutes when the game is over.
They will take it slowly with the rookies- they usually do.

I don’t agree, he’s still very raw and has some things to learn before he’s ready. Last year was not good for him, he spent most of his time in the NBA but did not play much. He would have been better off playing every day in the G league. It’s not a problem if he spends most of this season in Maine.

Hmmm...not sure it works that way.  He is on a two-way contract so to make the 15 man roster they would have to void that contract and give him a real NBA contact.  That would be easy if thy leave a spot open for him but not sure that is going to happen; it would be a waste of a roster spot until the contract change is made.

Looks like a good chance that Langford doesn’t dress. He’s kind of in a triple hole starting the season - surgery, rebuilding his shot, and the guys in front of him. Since you specified “Game 1”, I’d bet he’s not dressing, and Wanamaker is.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

That's what he's saying, the Celtics could choose to convert Waters a full NBA deal (which he'd take I assume but as with Danuel House isn't a given)  instead of Green or Tacko. They would then offer Green/Tacko the 2-way deal that was now available.

Perhaps I was unclear, yes they would need to sign him to a regular NBA contract to put him on the roster, but that is no problem. Then they would be able to offer a two way to someone else.

figure the breakout to happen like this:
kemba
smart
hayward
brown
tatum
kanter
theis

semi
poirier
williams
edwards
langford
wanamaker
(bolded the players that are the core rotation.  non-bold players will play based on Brad's decisions and matchups)

14-15 on active roster
waters
timelord

2- way
struss
J green

E-10(?-->not sure of the correct term for the agreement he has with the C's)
tacko
(not sure if even another team showing an interest in Tacko would get him even a 2-way deal since he requires a lot of development to even get to be an end-of-bench player)

Just curious - is this what you’re predicting?

I know that they love him, but he’d have to outplay Carsen Edwards as well as Wanamaker in training camp, if I’m counting right.
