 #16 Yabu
 #23 Zizic

 17 Baldwin 18 Ellenson

19 Beasley athletic scorer was not interested
20 Lavert I was intrigued by him, I take guys like him

27 Siakam
28 Skal
29 Dejounte Murray
30 D Jones
31 Deyonta Davis
32 Zubac
33 Diallo, liked him prefraft
35 Brogdon

I was personally interested in this entire group above.

I didn't scout Siakim at all. I loved Levert the most. Brogdon and Diallo.

Crazy we could have had

Jaylen Brown
Caris Levert
Paskal Siakim
Malcolm Brogdon
Zubac or Diallo

Last two are if we never made the trade for two seconds for future first.

That was a weird year. Basically, Danny didn't want anyone who couldnt be stashed. But yea, Yabu was a bust. Wasn't completely useless bec he seemed to be a good lockerroom guy instead of a malcontent (keith bogans im looking at you)

At the time 16 felt too high for Levert but I was hoping he was there at 23. I think Zizic was a solid pick at 23, you can't always find the mid round gold dust. Yabu at 16 was basically just someone who would agree to be stashed. We were shopping that pick hard before we made it

While Yabu seems like a reach, it was a reasonable move because of roster crunch and cap purposes. We got Horford and almost got Durant because Yabu's salary didn't count with the cap.

As for Zizic, he'still looks like a solid pick from the position he was drafted.

Let’s be honest.  Danny has more misses then hits in the draft outside the top 14.  How many of those picks have actually panned out compared to the guys he didn’t pick.  While dannybhas an eye for roster fillers and locker room guys with these mid round picks, other GM’s are pulling down starters and stars.  This needs fixed.  We can’t keep trading for talent, eventually the pull drys up.

I would suspect that is true of almost all GMs.  The Spurs have historically nailed late #1s consistently.  Most other franchises don't.

You should cross every name off this list who was not a potential draft-and-stash player. Those 2 picks were not going to be used for anyone who would have taken up cap space that year. Boston drafted Brown with #3 and 2 players to stash overseas. They used the cap space to sign Horford and Hayward.

Even the Spurs have plenty of misses or guys they kick out the door after a season or two.

I really dislike this sort of lazy analysis.

Every GM has more hits than misses... so this is a statement that can be made for all GMs across all professional sports.

Also, scouts see prospects at a point in time... no one knows how they will develop and the opportunity they will be drafted into. Giannis being drafted on a team with a ball dominant all star PG may never have become the player we know now.

This notion of missing on draft picks is silly to me... especially when you're assessing it 3 years later

If we focus on the last 10 - 12 years ... slots 16-45
Danny has done a terrible job and that’s where he has made the majority of his picks in the last 10-12 years.
Like he’s basically drafted a full class of draftees and not a single player close to being an Alstar

I don't even know where to begin with this. How many Allstars are players drafted slots 16-45?

Ainge does a terrible job? I get it. You are a fan who thinks GMs should hit on every pick or you get mad. Fans are like that and they always think they know more than the GM. Hence the OP's post. But in reality GMs miss more than they hit on the draft and Ainge is one of the better GMs in the league.

True

But Danny made it up big time from the 2019 draft

Gwill, Edwards are steals

Waters looks like a higher talent than 51st pick
