An odd scenario that is possible. Gordon healthy looking great, putting up 19 ppg 5 rpg 3 APG. Shooting percentage comes back to normal.

Then Gordon gets a big dollar long term offer from a team that struck out on the first tier Free Agents.

Are we okay with this outcome? Should Ainge consider trading him if he looks good.

I think he takes a paycut to try to win with stevens

He already got plenty of money. He doesn't seem like the money hungry. Lets be honest, at this point he wants to win and with his coach, they have unfinished business.. Money doesn't buy that

couldn’t be further from the truth, and i don’t blame him, if he can get it that means he deserves it

that if he can get it then he deserves it?  what someone can earn is what they deserve (at least according to the team who offers)

I can't imagine Hayward only putting up 3APG ;D

I would be surprised though. Moved his family across country, keeps putting out kid after kid (so I'd assume he would want some stability), and he's very close with Brad. I think he'd want to stay, but I'd get him wanting to leave if we low-ball him. Hopefully Ainge isn't dumb when the time comes

Why should he take a pay cut if he has a great year? The Celtics are not in a position where, if he takes a pay cut it would help them sign or re-sign this or that player. Are you assuming that he will get offers far above what the Celtics think he is worth? If they don't think he's worth that much, then I am guessing he didn't have a good year.

The decision will be primarily based on what location he can win a title and play a main role. I think he probably realizes he's not going to be the best player on a title team, but he could be the second or third. Is that going to happen here, or will Brown and Tatum push him down the hierarchy? What about the big man question, has that been resolved by that point? How likely is it to be resolved in the future?

I would guess all situations being equal he stays, but if there's a clear cut amazing situation out there then he might leave. Horford left for a better basketball and contender situation, though the money helped too.

Horford left for the money, first and foremost. I agree with what you said for the most part, but the Horford part is disingenuous.

who's going to offer Hayward big money? Post-injury he can be hit or miss the rest of his career. He's still a big risk going forward even if he has an above average season

Next year's FA class is very weak, if Hayward returns to all-star form he'll get a max 4 year contract offer from other teams.

If he plays up to par I see no reason that Danny wouldn’t extend him with another max deal when he’s already maxed him once.
