There's been a lot of positive talk and print surrounding the great play of the Boston Celtic draft picks (Carsen, Tremont and Grant), invitee (Tacko) and veteran (R. Williams).

One player who's been flying under the radar and not getting the attention I believe he deserves has been Javonte Green.

He's been all over the court hustling and creating havoc on defense while smoothly adapting on the offensive end. He's scoring, rebounding, blocking shots, making steals and assists.

The game seems to flow through him...he makes everything appear effortless. Most often the team does better with him on the court. His +/- numbers over the past few games have been 14 or higher.

I believe if he had been a draftee rather than an invite he'd be getting a lot more attention from the press and the fans.

Maybe it's a stretch but he might be a better fit than some of the players on the current roster, e.g., Wanamaker, Ojeleye and Yabusele. Anyone else feel the same way?

My guess is that some NBA team will sign him to a two way contract before this tournament is over. However, if there were a way we could keep him, I'd be in favor of it.

Draftees definitely get more hype. I guess the challenge is that we can't sign everyone who stars in summer league into 15 roster spots. I'm sure he will find a home in the NBA after his performances, whether it is going to be enough to entice him to move back from Europe remains to be seen.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Not sure if Celts can sign him to a G league contract

Unfortunately there is only so many roster spots available

Strus and Waters are signed to 2 way contracts

Waters, Fall, Edwards, Timelord, Grant and Green are better than Yabu aka half the Summer League Team.

Green, thus far, has shown he's a serviceable two way player. Green and Edwards have been, by far, the most impressive SL Celtics. Presently, I count 19 Celtics in the mix for roster spots. Danny has some difficult decisions to make. I believe he'll try to package a deal to obtain an upgrade on our current centers. The advantages would be strengthening our front court and keeping some promising prospects. I would make room for Green and give Tacko a roster spot. Tacko clearly is a project, but worth the gamble.

I would do this as well. Cut Yabusele and Struss, sign Javonte Green and Tacko Fall (two-way).

I would like to see a few members of the big team moved in a considation trade and bring in a couple of the summer league guys.

But the yabu salary is needed to match trades so you cant just cut him

Green is 26 and has both college and Europe experience.  You expect his game to be further along.  I don't see the need of cutting Yabusele so you can add him to the roster or 2-way list unless it is part of some overall deal where we consolidate players in a trade.

just to be clear -- your idea is to trade away several players who've made the team (that aren't playing in SL and are clearly better than anyone in SL) to make room for guys who weren't drafted by anyone (our draftees are already on the team) or are just trying to make an NBA roster in some manner because they may have looked good in a game (or 2 or 3) against other guys that are either rookies, undrafted or trying to make an NBA roster?

This is the Celtics Strong blogging website....we're much smarter than all the NBA executives combined.  Lol

Admittedly, you do make some sense.

I just had my knee replaced three weeks ago… Give me a couple of months.  ;D

I do feel bad for Yabusele, though. Man, 3 years, and looking totally lost against 19 year olds. I guess I shouldn’t feel that bad then, for about 3+ million reasons why.
