This will be a bad look for Morris.

Spurs made moves (including a trade) to actually make it feasible to sign Morris and he had agreed with them.

That and he actually has a chance of winning with the Spurs verses the Knicks.   If he changes his mind you know where his head is at.

His head is focused on maximizing his earnings. There’s nothing wrong with that.  The guy has played eight seasons, and has “only” earned $29 million. I’d want to maximize my salary, too.

On a 1 year deal there's a good chance that he'll get traded to a playoff team or if he asked bought out to go to a playoff team.

Have seen players back out of deals but the Marcus Morris situation takes it to another level- Considering that San Antonio traded Davis Bertans- Acquired Dem. Carroll with the trade exception created from Bertans- Opening up the full $9.3M midlevel for Morris.

WOW.  Just wow. Seriously, F this clown if he screws us like this. It's one thing to back out, but when we traded Davis for nothing to create an exception so we could use the MLE on you??? Really?? Morris is a piece of **** if he does this. And **** the Knicks too. stay in your lane garbage franchise

Marcus Morris showing his real colours. Never liked him. Glad he's gone from our team.

Remarkable how disloyal, unreliable and money-hungry our departers (Irving, Rozier, Morris and Horford) turn out to be. It gives some indication of how difficult it must have been to manage that group.

This is a really bad look for the Knicks as well. The Spurs are really getting skr*wed here. Plan by Klutch Sports as payback for that Popovich phone-call to New Orleans about advising to not trade Davis to his preferred destination?

If Morris gets a buy-out in February and then signs with the Lakers...

Yep, as I said earlier:

This will be a bad look for Morris.

Spurs made moves (including a trade) to actually make it feasible to sign Morris and he had agreed with them.

Doesn't matter how you cut it, that'd be a bad look for Morris.

I still like Morris btw and thank him for his time here, just saying that this particular case would reflect poorly on him.

Yeah, backing out would be a dink thing to do.

I would imagine it's also bad for his agent long term.

Everyone saying it's a bad look for Morris, but I'm wondering why the Spurs didn't actually sign him yet.  The moratorium has been over.  Why didn't they have Morris put the pen to the paper on Saturday?  There's got to be some blame there on the Spurs part, right?

His agent already has terrible reputation... so he probably doesn’t care much.
Rich Paul has made his bucks from holding francises hostage and squeezing a few extra millions from them.
See Bledsoe and Phoenix
Tristan Thompson and cavs
JR smith and cavs...
The last two basically Lebron forced the owners to cough up more dollars than market value because they were capped out and couldn’t get replacements

I also wonder, if Morris blew out his knee yesterday, would the Spurs honor the commitment , or rather fail him on his physical?

The Spurs have been a questionable organization post Duncan-era when it comes to operational moves.

Losing Kawhi Leonard.
Can't lock in Marcus Morris.

That organization probably deserves some of the heat.

I agree that it's weird the Spurs haven't signed Morris yet, but we don't know the whole story. I highly doubt they wanted to lose him after trading Bertans...who, btw, was a perfect fit for the Spurs.

No matter what, it's a 'bad look' as the kids say for Morris. Even if he stands to make a little more money (the TX non-income tax is a good point), it still more money overall. I guess he will be a lot closer to home, if that matters to him.

Morris has been underpaid for years. He should grab it while he can.

Couldn't disagree more, Morris worked hard for the Celts, at times he seemed like one of the few really giving his all. His game is flawed, no doubt, but if it weren't he'd be making a lot more money. I also don't think it's fair to accuse the players of being disloyal, this is how the league works now, and it has for some time. The teams would not hesitate to cut or trade a guy if it was in the team's interest, can't blame the players for looking out for themselves. A deal isn't final until pen is put to paper, that's true all over, not just the NBA.
