I assume I'm correct that Morris is no longer a Celtic.

I know some on this board have criticized him but I really like his game - 13.9 pts, 6.1 reb, 44.7% FGP 28 minutes per game.

I think the Celts may miss him more than Irving and Horford.   Why, well the C's now have replacements for them - so who is going to replace his offense?  Who is the 28 minute per game guy as his replacement?

I hoping the rookie Williams can bring some energy , tuffness , attitude off,the bench , like a bigger version of Smart.

Wyc won't pay tax for a non-contender so I think it is safe to say Marcus is a goner. Good pro, ball sometimes sticks. Maybe not the best fit in a ball movement offense

He was very good for us for towards the beginning of the season when he was shooting well, but I feel when he is not shooting well he doesn’t bring much else to the table and is mostly a black hole.  I’d rather move on, and give his shots to our other wings.

Is hitting the tax really a concern (I am asking as I usually miss some cap nuance).  Right now with 11 players signed or estimate, we are at about $108M  We will sign the two first rounders I assume for around $6M  getting us to $114M'ish.  We have no means to sign anything but minimum contracts for the most part.  The tax starts at $132M.  That leaves us $18M.  Even if we were to sign Morris at $10M, we still don't hit the tax do we?

(If I am missing something, I will humbly accept the explanation).

Kyrie and Al signed with the enemy, but there's no way, shape or form that Marcus Morris was more important than either of them.

I'll give you Morris over Baynes, but others will fight you on that one.

Don’t count on rookies for anything.  They are not ready for this league yet.  Most are very young and don’t have the toughness to compete at the NBA level.  It takes time for them to develop.

Kanter doesn't play D like Al, but his offense will definitely offset the loss of Horford in that regard.

Same.  The way the offense ran when he facilitating stuff through the high post is going to missed a lot.  I don't see any of the current bigs being able do so effectively.

JumpingJudkins - think you missed my point...the Celtics in free agency IMO have acquired adequate replacements for Kyrie and Al...

No and we won't miss anybody really. I expect the team to come next season with a different mindset to prove that the lesson was learned and that they are ready to do the talk and walk the walk, notably Brown and Tatum. I watched a Smart interview today in which he said he is gonna come with a different mindset and be all business and that he has some regrets about things he could have done last season.
I think the team will come much tighter and hungrier next season. We'll have a better season than this last one and Al, Kyrie, Morris, Rozier will be water under the bridge

Having an actual rebounder will change things.

It's a new thing on here having so many people believing that the rookie is the second coming!! It sounds more like he should have been the second pick this year lol! I guess I should just be happy we got the steal of the draft.

Anyway Morris was good last year and really good the first half of the season. He will be missed for sure. Losing Horford is a tougher loss being very solid player and defensive anchor.

we'll notice his absence on offense and with physical play but I'm hopeful we'll have enough wings to replace what he brought to the table that we won't 'miss' him
