If this happens, LarBrd & Saltlover will be considered legends on here

(LarBrd33 also posted the sign-and-trade ideas here and on Reddit btw)

I would say that the only remaining question is what is Brooklyn going to get from Boston and Charlotte to make this happen.  It feels like Boston will surrender a first (I would be stunned if it was the Memphis pick) but I am predicting that Charlotte will give something to Brooklyn too.  This deal gives them Rozier and a pretty big trade exception.  Without this deal, they lose Kemba for nothing and have limited cap space to get anything back.  Charlotte should be willing to pony up a pick or some other asset.
Maybe this is the point where Wyc wishes he hadn't made those public comments about sticking it to the Nets with the KG/Pierce deal

Well, that was short-lived.

Wow. This is great news. The most important part here is keeping Horford. I'd imagine mook is still gone since hes gonna get more money than we are probably comfortable with and we are now gonna be subject to the hard cap. Probably use the MLE on a big like maybe dedmon.

Now on the downside I'm not super thrilled about paying a small PG through their age 32 season, and an aging center for 3 or 4 years. There's a serious cap on our upside unless Jaylen/Tatum/Memphis pick are all nba level.

Oh well, but maybe they're doing it to get the full MLE (from 4M to about 9M)?

That still makes a difference when it comes to trying to sign a center.

I do not think that the Celtics would be doing all of this to try and retain Horford if they did not have info suggesting he would resign.

So, if Bulpett is correct, they are doing this for another reason, which is still fine by me.

And right before I post this its reported Horford isnt coming back. So basically this is entirely about holding onto Mooks cap hold and getting the full MLE. Not that exciting because mook is gonna get overpaid and I'd rather he leave to open up shots for young guys. Also, it would explain why Brooklyn would do it since it helps us but not that much.

When I am wrong, I say I am wrong. I never in a million years would have figured Boston would make any sign and trade, nevermind a triple sign and trade 3 way deal. I was wrong and will eat my crow.

Well, that was short-lived.

This, if true, is not the end of it.  Think sign and trade say with Houston for Capela and Tucker or something like that.  Because of the sign and trade with Brooklyn (hopefully actually true), we can keep the hold on Horford vs. just having to renounce him.  This is certainly not anything routine to sign and trade Horford but if we can get players or a trade exception back for Horford, we may be better off than signing Horford straight up.

I am hoping we sign and trade him, then I will be very glad not to have him back.  If we lose him for nothing, not so much.

There's a good chance you'd regret the deal by years 3 & 4 and I don't think Al would be inclined to take any discounts when he can get the money elsewhere.
