If this happens that would be a major free agent signing three of the past four years.  I hope that narrative about free agents not wanting to come to the Celtics will go away after that.

I mean after the Kyrie saga and Davis giving them the treatment idk lol. Isaiah Thomas got tossed around like a ragged doll too

Kyrie has done this to two teams in 3 years. If people are smart, they'll see it's more him than us.

Davis's father has been known to be a pain in NOLA's side. Like a quieter version of Lavar. Plus there was never really anything linking Davis to really considering Boston. It's been ,mostly NY or LA.

IT4 forgave DA. I think most teams would have made that trade.

what about Kyrie s&T and a Boston pick to nets
Rozier (if he agrees) and Yabusele and a second to Charlotte (tpe created for difference)
Kemba to Boston

I believe due to BYC rules Kyrie would count as 16 million, Yabusele is 3.1 million and team would need to be at about 25.5 mill in outgoing to accept Kemba. So Rozier would need to have a starting salary of about 13 million.

Then we can sign and trade Horford and a bucks pick to the Clippers(or whoever) for a tpe (starting salary of 25 million)
TPE can then be used on Capela (15 million)

Kemba/Edwards/Waters
Smart/Carter/Romeo
Brown/Hayward/Semi
Tatum/Williams/Dudley
Capela/Dedmon/Williams

be left with 10 mill in TPE, full MLE, BAE for good depth that be counted on. Dedmon, Dudley, Carter.

Where does Brown go in this idea?

Small quibble Kyrie would count at 20 million his current salary in a BYC scenario, not half his new contract.

Quote
If a team re-signs its Larry Bird or Early Bird free agent in order to trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction, the player's new salary is greater than the minimum, he receives a raise greater than 20%, and the team is at or above the cap immediately after the signing1, then the player's outgoing salary for trade purposes is either his previous salary or 50% of his new salary, whichever is greater. The team receiving the player always uses his new salary.

Rodman and Wallace aren't the same generation so I'm not sure why you mentioning them together

Because the poster was cryptic who he meant so I covered both bases.

So does anyone think that at like 6:01 PM EST on Sunday, right when FA officially starts, we'll actually hear the official announcement from Woj/Shams about Kemba coming here? (Along with news Klay agreeing with GSW as has been reported recently too)

And in general, I find it interesting that he's not meeting with other teams in this process like NY, Dallas, etc and it seems that barring Charlotte upping their offer by a ton, he'll be coming here. How did Ainge know Kemba would be interested in coming here, or why did Kemba prefer coming here over the other places? Will be curious to find out IF this all happens.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kemba has simply been using Boston as leverage to get a supermax from Charlotte.

I do hope the Celts have a back-up plan in case they don't sign Kemba.

A LONG 44+ hours remain  :(

I'm prepared for anything to be honest. If Kemba does stay in CHA, then for Plan B, we could still go after someone like Brogdon (22-24M a year) or Russell (max; 27M first year) and then use remaining cap space to add to our front court. Or we could then just trade for a Capela or Adams and absorb them into our cap room + add guard depth in other ways. Or maybe we actually go after Vucevic.

There's still a lot of options to consider if Kemba stays in CHA, but yeah at this point I feel like all the reporting has gotten most of the fanbase hyped that if he doesn't end up coming here, it'd sting a bit for a little while. Every big name reporter (Woj, Stein, Jackie Mac, the Hornets beat guy - Bonnell) has basically stated that "we're frontrunners" and/or a "deal is going to be done soon", so I guess we'll see.

Somewhat agree, but why?  Charlotte has a nothing roster and Kemba cannot single handedly take them to Easter Conference finals.

So they just keep treading water fighting for the 6-8 playoff seed?

Eastern Conference Finals? They couldn't even get past the first-round, nor win a playoff game or two.
