Yeah, but disastrous news for the league if Iggy goes to Lakers, and Lakers get Kawhi. Might as well hand the LOB to LAL.

Kinda feels inevitable that the Lakers will be a juggernaut this year.  LeBron will get another run or two at a title, at least.

We saw this year that injuries can change the calculus, even for juggernauts.  Kawhi will be coming off a season where he expended a tremendous amount of energy willing his team to a title.  LeBron has a million miles on his legs.  AD has been more durable in recent years but still has a history of being somewhat injury prone.

The Lakers will be relying on a lot of older players to get them to the finish line.

Ah well, it seems that this is the league now.  Every year there's going to be a team that has managed to put together multiple MVP caliber talents and the rest of the league just has to hope for injuries and luck.

But Leonard hasn’t signed with any team yet.

Are you saying this based off them getting Iggy, or because you are assuming Leonard goes there (I understand it is confusing cause we already have a hypotethical thread about leonard on lakers)

Assuming Kawhi goes there.  Just feels like an inevitability.

At a certain point last night Philly was in danger of losing Butler, Harris and Reddick while the C’s were looking assured to recover a bit by getting Walker, resigning or S&T Horford, possibly resigning Morris (or S&T) and getting the full MLE.  This morning’s news has C’s back in the room exception and renouncing Morris while losing Horford for nothing. Philly signs Harris and Horford and S&Ts Butler for a nice piece in Richardson.  What a complete and disappointing turnaround.

The only remaining salvage from last night is that it seems Kawhi is still in play for the Clips though I am fully expecting that to turn the wrong way at some point today.

Kawhi for sure going to Lakers. Time to accept it. Just hate how the Lakers get everyone and their front office is a complete joke. Their fans don't even deserve it. Now I'm gonna have to put up with Lakers fans crap everyday here and their "3peat", "multiple championships", "better than boston" garbage.

Got a source for that?

Broussard is not a source.

However, Kawhi going to the Lakers is the worst thing I can imagine happening in free agency, which means it probably will.

The league doesn't have a clear favorite right now, so of course Kawhi will join up with LeBron and AD and we'll go back to having one clear cut super team and a bunch of teams hoping for an injury.

Broussard might not be the best source but Iggy thing to Lakers is happening from that tweet yesterday and betting Kawhi follows suit. That would be pretty good if he nailed both.

But he has retweeted something new saying what sounds like Kawhi does not trust front office of Lakers so it will come down to does he trust Magic and Lebron enough to go gold.

That must be the hold up...Kawhi brain is like Yes...no...yes...no..lots of titles....no...yes is my guess at end

I hope that Leonard has already agreed to sign with Toronto or the Clippers and is just stringing the Lakers on so all of the decent FAs are already signed by other teams and the Lakers are left with g-league players to fill out their roster.

The Lakers are like the Yankees. They are desperate to win, and they keep adding players.

Nothing wrong with wanting to win.  Nevertheless, I still hate the Fakers and Skankees!

One book-keeping note that I don't think is out yet: the first-round pick Indiana sent to Milwaukee in the Malcolm Brogdon sign-and-trade is lottery-protected from 2020-2025 (six drafts!) and then unprotected in 2026, sources say.

I’m told Willie Cauley-Stein coming to the Warriors. Was Damian Jones that bad in the Summer League debut? Does that mean no DeMarcus Cousins?

Can confirm. Cauley-Stein will sign for something slightly above the minimum salary, a source says.

I do like the sound of that but unfortunately have to disagree with you. Even with injuries they will be a top 4 team. :-[
