This is where I scratch my head at the Celtics drafting Langford at #14. Should have taken a big there to at least provide some depth. Now they have none.
this board has gone over the discussion already. langford was the best player available for ainge, so that is whom you draft.
next, any center/big would be a rookie this year and the likelihood of them being able to start and be credible is very, very low.
third, at the time of the draft no one, not even ainge, knew exactly how everything would turn out in free agency and whom the celtics might be able to pick up as a FA. to ask ainge to take a lesser talent on draft night based upon this is not realistic.
