It's easy to just say "target Giannis" or target ____ (insert other All-NBA player) without an actual offer, or without any reason for them wanting to leave. Milwaukee is positioned to contend for the next few years, and both Indiana and Utah are in good positions.

I also have no idea how you're going to keep Brown and Tatum and have the cap space to sign Giannis. You say that they're ideally both going to be All-Stars - that means they're both likely going to command max / near max money.

This is just very very unrealistic.

I have to agree.

Even if the Celts target players, like Ainge going all in for Anthony Davis, it doesn't mean if you target them they will come to Boston.

True, but it’s not Giannis or bust. We save the cap space and even if Giannis is off the table, Oladipo and Gobert may still be in play. If Tatum and Brown turn into all-stars, or even if we just have Tatum and some talented youth from the 2020 and 2021 drafts, we could maybe turn into championship contenders with Stevens, Tatum and Oladipo or Gobert. I have not lost all hope in Tatum becoming the second coming of Durant...

That's a lot of "ifs".

The drop-off in star power is very big if you go from Giannis to Oladipo or Gobert.

What's saving the Celts from total disaster, after losing Kyrie, Horford, and not getting Anthony Davis, is the Celts still have the assets that was supposed to be traded for AD.

The Celts should of course try to have cap space available to chase top free agents when they are available, but they also need to be aware of reality. Giannis has stated clearly that he intends to stay in Milwaukee. We all know that things can change and the Celts can't assume anything, but there is no reason to think that Giannis is leaving the Bucks. Getting Giannis can't be the plan, they need to prepare in case things change and he becomes unhappy, but by far the most likely thing is that he stays.

Brown and Tatum didn't seem to like it much the first time they had the spotlight and then had to relinquish it. Can we expect any different the next time that happens?

Why should we force them to relinquish the spotlight? They're our future and should be given the freedom to prove that they're good enough to lead us to the promised land.

I don't trust someone who will get barked and pushed by his own teammates on the court to be a leader

Really? You hold him accountable for actions of another? Should your focus of your judgnent not be his response to the actions of his team mates?

Well it seems that Danny is going to maintain the flexibility to acquire a star player should one become available, and if he does acquire one, that would mean fewer shots for Tatum and Brown. And I'm not sure Danny's gonna take their feelings into consideration if he has the chance to acquire a bonafide superstar.
